My self-summary Propose an edit

I teach (a lot!) so I'm not at home often. I am currently teaching special ed at a jr./sr. high. That means I teach all grades from 7 - 12 and I teach any subject that a student needs help in. It's kind of fun brushing up on my US History and chemistry. But daunting at times. Sometimes I just have to tell my kids I just don't know the anwser. And when I do go out it's usually with a group of teachers so you can imagine what we talk about all night. I love to read. John Grisham is probably my all time favorite author but also I'm a huge Harry Potter fan so my goal is to read all 6 books (again) before the 7th one comes out. Dorky?? Absolutely! But I can live with that. Update: I did read all 6 before the 7th came out. Read the 7th and I must say, the epilogue sucked. Big time!! And way too many people died. But, I must move on.

I have 2 pet peeves. Actually, I'm sure I have more than that, but these are without a doubt the biggest two. First, I hate being late . . . to anything. This comes from a childhood of being late to every freakin' thing I went to because of my mother. Now I run perpetually early. Also, I hate it when people swear. Especially when they curse excessively. It does not make you cool, nor smart. You look like an idiot because you cannot think of any word better to express yourself with than some common 4 letter swear word that even my 2nd graders from last year know better than to use. If you swear on a regular basis, you are not for me.

What I'm doing with my life Propose an edit

Right now I'm teaching and going to church. Teaching is pretty exhausting. I taught 2nd grade last year and am teaching high school this year so it's been quite an adjustment. I've found that I do better with the older kids. I try to see my friends as often as possible. As they are not scattered all over the state, this is a bit of a challenge. But I certainly do my best.

Being sarcastic. Sometimes it's a little extreme but all my friends think I'm funny, so it's all good.

I guess my eyes. I used to wear glasses and I recently switched to contacts and quite a few of my students commented on how blue my eyes were. Guess they weren't as blue when I was wearing glasses or something.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food Propose an edit

For books, my favorite authors are John Grisham, Jodi Picoult, Julie Garwood, J.K. Rowling, Stephenie Meyer, C.S. Lewis, and Nicholas Sparks.

I like watching movies at my house versus in the theater. I don't watch any type of horror movie because I don't like to be scared. I like comedies and anything that has Will Smith or dancing in it.

I like a variety of music. Anything from Garth Brooks to Angels and Airwaves, Newsboys to Kansas, Def Leppard to Chris Brown.

I am a very picky eater and I know this about myself. It seems to bother everyone else though more than it bothers me. People get very upset when I go to a restaurant and order the same thing each time. But I really like what I am ordering and am perfectly happy eating it. Mexican food is my favorite, without a doubt. I also like pizza, hot wings, seafood . . . and I can't really think of anything else at this moment.

The six things I could never do without Propose an edit

Let's see, what could I never, ever do without?? My Bible and church family, music, books, water (all types, not just to drink or shower in) . . . . yeah, that's all I can think of. I could probably live without most everything else. I would probably be really sad if I never saw my family again (especially my super adorable niece) so I guess I should add them to the list.

I spend a lot of time thinking about Propose an edit

that I love teaching but I'm not really sure it's all for me. There's a lot of crap that goes on in education today and I can't guarantee that it's all worth it. The kids are great though and if all I had to do was show up each day and teach them, it would be the best job in the world. Unfortunately, that's not all I have to do and everything else seems to get in the way.

And why people feel the need to list every single book, or artist, or movie they like. Honestly, I don't want to read a list of your top 100 favorite books, movies, or artists. Give me just a few and we can talk about the rest later.
