overall i see myself as someone who is relatively self-aware, and able to communicate both openly and sensitively.

during my spare time i love talking, watching films & dvds, sharing a fave beverage with friends, engaging in tangential conversations and then retracing the tangent, and meeting new people.

i have a pretty full dance card at the moment (and no, they're not seeking to become involved in 'extra-curricular activities'), but as i love meeting new people please feel free to message me (so long as you meet my points below...far less likely to reply if you don't).

i am making it up as i go along; looking at what i can learn (or have learned) from what i've lived so far as well as aiming to enjoy the moment!

career-wise: completing phd (enough said!). To earn the dosh, I work part-time as a counsellor and 'web content advisor' in an area related to my counselling practice.

geeking on a number of topics including: psychology, self-awareness, communication, reading development, writing loquaciously, research...i also consider myself to be a 'demi-geek' on the following topics (it is likely that my status going to probably evolve to 'full-geek' for some of these as time passes): psycholinguistics, sex and sexuality, relationships.

procrastination (e.g. setting up my profile here!) when i should be studying

kissing, i base this on my observation of how lovers seem to melt when we kiss ; ^)

being reflective and thoughtful, and using my imagination for all sorts of journeys and sensations

laughing at myself : D

these are the comments i usually receive: the way i dress. my laugh (i can certainly lol!). my husky and sexy voice.

my tastes in books, movies, music, and food are eclectic and tend to be dictated by my mood.

don't really have favourite FILMS, but have a particular bent for 'arthourse', animation as well as some of the mainstream stuff. ecample include the Fountain, Ghost in the Shell (both films and the series), TransAmerica, Dogs in Space (saw the digital reprint recently, so cool to see it on the big screen for the first time!), The Cat Returns, Shortbus, Monsters Inc. (and pretty much anything by Pixar), LOTR, Harry Potter...oh and, i also enjoy watching good 'Making of' on the dvd extras, the Pixar and Studio Ghibli ones really stand out. so cool to see how it is all put together : )

MUSIC: more often than not either RRR and PBSFM is playing the background.

I enjoy anything ranging from classical to industrial (with exceptions being anything too c&w or commercial...yes that's subjective!). have a particular bent for female vocalists/musicians e.g. Peaches, Bjork, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Martha Wainwright, The Clouds, Amy Winehouse, Kate Nash, PJ Harvey, Nina Simone & Billie Holiday. I also enjoy Nick Cave (in his various bands), the Pixies, Architecture in Helsinki, Radio Birdman, Iggy Pop (including the Stooges), Tom Waits, the Ravonettes...when studying i also love to listen to instrumental pieces, including john coltrane, alice coltrane, charles mingus, miles davis, philip glass, circle of rhythm...and really love seeing live music too!

ooh too many to list (according to Itunes I have over 5000 songs!).

BOOKS admittedly i don't finish non-phd books all that often...recently enjoyed Perfume: The scent of a murderer, and The tropic of cancer. I have started reading short story collections too, currently slowly making my way through Anais Nin's collection.

FOOD I mostly prefer stuff that is not too sweet or salty but full of other flavours.

i am bisexual and polyamorous, i'm actually pretty open about these two things...or anything else for that matter. secrets leave you carrying things on your own and openness is much better imo.

another thing that some people may not like to admit but i offer up freely is that at the age of 35 i've started sleeping with soft fluffy objects. for my birthday this year, my boyfriend gave me 3 soft toys and my girlfriend made me a massive body pillow covered in soft purple and pink fur. i find cuddling into these very comforting, nice cuddly reminders of my intimates :)
