I really like doing things and going places, but i also like a quiet night at home. I love to cook, but I really enjoy eating out. I like taking long walks through places I've never been, but it's nice to be a regular sometimes. I can brush off minor obstacles and frustrations but get infuriated at the big injustices. I liked the movie, but I liked the book better.

I am creative, droll, and sincere

cooking, listening, surprises, explaining technical issues and current events, computers, trying new things, MS Excel, recommending places to eat and finding things to do, tours of New York.

the moustaches are pretty recognizable, but i'd like to think it was my steel blue eyes, my rapier wit, or a recent considerate, thoughtful gesture.

i'm going to list directors over individual films, even if i don't love one of their films, i'm always interested to see what they brought to it. i also tend to listen to albums over singles, but i listen to more podcasts than i listen to music.

podcasts: Comedy Bang Bang, Thrilling Adventure Hour, Doug Loves Movies, TAL, On the Media, Planet Money, Radiolab, The Moth, You Made It Weird, Nerdist Writers Panel, Bullseye, and obviously, WTF.

music: I mostly listen to electronic music (ed banger, valerie labels), rocksteady (skatellites, or via pandora), guitar-driven indie bands from the 90s or modern bands that sound like guitar-driven indie bands from the 90s. And it is guaranteed that if a song is playing in a store, I will be humming it five minutes after I leave. Any song, every where, all the time.

Books: left to myself, I tend to read a lot of science fiction or whatever hot young author the Awl is going nuts over. So I joined a book club a couple of years ago, and now I mostly read what other people pick for me. which I like, because between reading news online, and blogs and instapaper, I feel like I spend most of my time reading what I want to read, and it’s nice to see what someone else thinks is interesting and dig in to things I wouldn’t have otherwise picked.

Television. I work in television, too much to list. I tried to make a top ten once, but it was too mind-bending. Still, you’ve read this far, and I’m not going to give up on you. I don’t disagree that the three best current dramas are Breaking Bad, Mad Men and Game of Thrones. Ended dramas: The Wire, Deadwood, West Wing. Three favorite current comedies are: P&R/30 Rock, Louie, Venture Bros. Ended comedies: Larry Sanders, Community, and AD.

the yellow pages, VCRs, the Encyclopedia Britannica, CDs, fax machines and pay phones.

it depends, see I have this theory that if you go out Friday night, meet up with people or do something, the weekend seems really long. but if you just go home, go to the gym or do nothing on Friday, your weekend will seem really short, no matter what you do Saturday or Sunday, so I always try to make Friday count.

you'd rather try a little bit of everything than all of one thing, you're up for adventure and surprise, you make the kind of jokes people don't laugh at.
