What I’m doing with my life
In a recent dream I looked down at myself and saw that I was Robocop. I thought "Holy shit! I'm Robocop! I'm fucking awesome!" Then a voice said "Be careful, that costume is really expensive," and I realized that no, I was not Robocop, I was just PLAYING Robocop at an amusement park.

In my awake life, I quit a stressful publishing job in NYC and moved back to Toronto to find my true calling. I thought it would take 3 months or so but it's been 2 years and I'm still trying out different things. In the meantime, I write nonfiction books for kids, take classes (improv, comedy writing, magazine journalism, and the only useful one - WordPress), and run a terrarium business from my kitchen.

anything but freestyle dancing. i'm an inhibited dancer. choreographed is okay. there's a video called "Best Bluegrass Clog Dancing Video Ever Made" that's made me really want to learn to clog dance.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I was denied at the liquor store the other day because I didn't have my ID with me. Had to leave my bottles on the counter and do the empty-handed slink of shame to the exit. The place was packed and my "BUT I'M 39 YEARS OLD!!!" was loud enough that everyone was staring. It's a flattering and feel-good event if you have your ID in your pocket, but because I did not, it was ridiculous, embarrassing, and so INCONVENIENT that I started to cry a little bit. Just a tiny bit. Like, the tears welled, but they didn't roll.
