I'm an outgoing, intelligent, funny and thoughtful person, who
(like most people, I think) is characterized by contradictions.
Work is really important to me, but so are relationships, and the
ability to enjoy the rest of life. I love being busy and meeting
new people and trying new things, but i also sometimes crave the
familiar, quiet and low-key. I'm independent and sometimes feisty,
but I also like to be put in my place and have things done for me.
I think the trick is finding the right balance - and in spending
time with people who can appreciate and have fun with those
contradictions.

What I’m doing with my life
I work as a lawyer (but not an evil one), which I love because it's
both social and relationship-based, and also intellectually
stimulating. Aside from work, I spend plenty of time hanging out
with friends, checking out restaurants/bars/galleries/movies/events
around the city, cooking, reading, doing yoga, playing tennis, etc.
I like to think that I also spend a lot of time trying to be a good
friend, co-worker, and family-member, and trying to live my life in
a way that is faithful to my politics and values.
Things i really like include: lazy weekend coffee-shop afternoons; spontaneous drinks at a local bar; hosting dinner parties or any other kind of get-togethers; hikes/ice skates/walks that double as long talks. At this point, I'm not on any particular mission of self-discovery or transformation, but instead just enjoying what I've built in terms of community, career, etc, while still challenging myself to keep growing and learning.

I’m really good at
Playfully teasing people, laughing at myself, trying new things,
working hard, getting stuff done (but also procrastinating),
indulging, being bored/boring, making plans, knitting cute baby
sweaters, making yummy food...
The first things people usually notice about me
My eyes - not because they're some amazing colour (they're hazel, i
think), but because they often have a mischievous twinkle; my
laugh; my so-conventional-its-unconventional, lady-lawyer sense of
style.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Authors (in no particular order): Lorrie Moore, David Sederis,
Zadie Smith, Ali Smith, Jhumpa Lahiri, Ian McEwan, and lots of
others...also semi-religious about the New Yorker, and certain
podcasts.
TV: Rachel Maddow (I'm kind of obsessed with her, and, to a lesser extent, US politics), Louie, The Good Wife, anything Sorkin, Arrested Development, Parks and Recreation, 30 Rock, etc.
I sometimes wonder how important this stuff is? Partly because a lot of people like the same stuff, and partly because i like the idea of new people in your life introducing you to new things...or discovering new things with new people

The six things I could never do without
Family and friends (being with them, not just texting them)
My cottage, my backyard - or at least patios!
Long, in-person, conversations
Cookbooks/food blogs/my favourite Le Creuset dutch oven
Parentheses

I spend a lot of time thinking about
Why people do what they do and what they think about; What makes
people connect - romantically, professionally, etc; power dynamics;
agency vs. destiny; What i'm going to make for dinner, what colour
to paint my nails, or other such garbage; What i should be doing at
work!
On a typical Friday night I am
Often out for work drinks, and then maybe meeting friends...or
maybe just relaxing at home
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
That I'm just now learning to drive. What can I say, I was raised a
city girl...
I’m looking for
- Girls who like girls
- Ages 28–42
- Near me
- Who are single
- For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating
You should message me if
You are a caring, smart and warm person who manages to be both
funny and serious (preferably at the appropriate time, but that's
negotiable). You should like doing stuff, and sometimes doing
nothing, but most importantly, you should enjoy talking - about
politics (big and small p), relationships, things you've read,
thought about, or have an opinion about. It would be ideal if you
felt you had your own life more or less under control, were
actually single, and interested in getting to know somebody in real
life!
