I am not an open book. My binding is stiff, and has to be eased open to avoid breaking. But like a well-read book, I can be opened much more freely over time. My story is detailed and complex and comes complete with illustrations and a soundtrack. I have wickedly funny chapters and sad ones; happy ones, embarrassing ones and ones that are frightening. The next chapter of my story has yet to be written, and the ending will take a lifetime to finish.

I am quick-witted, intuitive, and musical

I'm working at a job that I really like, in an area where I don't know too many people. Although I've been here nearly two years now, my life had been such that I hadn't gotten to meet too many new people outside of work- and I'm hoping to change that now.

I'm a pretty decent singer (I used to be a music therapist, and I sing in the chorus of a small opera company). I'm also pretty good at learning from other people, taking constructive criticism, and remembering really random things. All of these things are very important in both my work and real life, so they're what I'm most proud of. (Yes, I'm aware I just ended a sentence with a preposition). I'm pretty decent at drawing and writing. Neither are of professional proportions, but I really like to write stories. I used to write fan fiction (I have an obsession with The X-Files), but I do other stories and poetry on occasion. My most current talent is in the kitchen- I do a lot of vegan cooking, and I take pictures of my food for my blog.

I am also freakishly good at guessing the age of people.

In a way it seems silly to put this here, but I'm also really good at thinking, which may or may not be a good thing. I tend to think about things that I find important or interesting a lot, and look at them from a number of different perspectives. One of the things that frustrates me about this site is there are so many questions where you have to give a sort of black or white answer, and that's not what I would really do.

That I'm really short. That aside, people that I'm first meeting probably notice that I seem uncomfortable, since I get really uncomfortable when I'm around people I don't know. That usually changes once I get to know people, and I hope it doesn't put people off too much. I'm a very classic INFJ (personality type).

Favorite movies are too numerous to count. I like a lot of old/classic movies, documentaries, and independent films. I can't think of "favorites" right now, but some that have been on the list for a while include Amélie, Big Fish, Crash, Finding Neverland, Juno, The Whole Wide World, Hairspray, How to Kill Your Neighbor's Dog, Maria Full of Grace, Silence of the Lambs, Hunger Games, Harry Potter and Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

I really like a lot of TV series, though most of them aren't on TV anymore. My favorite TV show ever is The X-Files, followed by I Love Lucy, ER, Frasier and M*A*S*H. I love Glee! It's my favorite on-air now, though there's a few others I enjoy- Criminal Minds and 30 Rock among them. And though I'm vegan and I would never eat the food, I'm addicted to Top Chef. I've gotten much more into Sci-Fi over the last couple of years, and I love, love, love Stargate SG-1, as well as Stargate Atlantis. I also really enjoyed watching all of Farscape. Most recently, I've become addicted to Game of Thrones. I'd love to have someone to watch some other Sci-Fi series with me!

I've gotten into young adult fiction- Love The Hunger Games and Harry Potter (I refuse to read the Twilight books). Other than having recently read the 50 Shades of Gray books, I haven't been reading a lot of fiction lately, though that's something I plan to change. I also really enjoy reading books about the food industry and how it's killing America.

Music... favorite singers/bands are Dar Williams, Jewel, Alanis Morisette, Barenaked Ladies, and U2. I listen to a lot of different stuff, from folk to rock to musicals to opera. I even find Eminem to be really funny. That is, if you look at his work as a healthy expression of not-so-healthy fantasies. Otherwise, not so much. It's really funny when I set my ipod to shuffle from the Top 100 songs list.

Food... I am vegan. I'm also a bit of a picky eater. I hate mushrooms, I dislike raw tomatoes. Though they're so bad for me, I love sweets, and I am the Cupcake-Making-Queen among my friends. At least when I make cupcakes for other people, I'm not tempted to eat them all myself. :) Where I used to live it was very difficulty find vegan food out (or even in the grocery store), so I got used to cooking a lot for myself. Turns out, I really like cooking and baking, so it's all good. I actually keep a blog about the food that I make. Get to know me, and I might tell you the URL.

As far as food goes- you don't have to be vegan, but considering how much I enjoy cooking and the fact that I will not cook non-vegan food, hopefully you are open to eating some vegan meals (I'm not opposed to going out to eat where there is non-vegan food, so long as there's something I can have). If you can't live without a steak everyday, we might not be a great match. :-)

My voice, my guitar, writing materials, people I care about, a place to have quiet time, and humor.

What I want out of life and if it's really what's going to make or keep me happy in the long run. That, and aliens. One of those statements might not be true.

Probably watching some Sci-Fi and surfing the internet, maybe having dinner with a friend. I am probably not the best example of what to do on a Friday evening, though I'd love to find some other things to be doing!

I've been to a New Kids on the Block concert. Hey, I was 11. And Tiffany was playing, too.
