I am liberal, slightly terrified, and getting over it.

My Self-Summary

I'm rewriting this! Because I've actually been meaning to for a while.

To be perfectly honest, I joined OkCupid more out of misguided love for The Spark (back before it totally sold out! :P) and SparkMatch. I loved them both and joined OkCupid because I knew I'd love it too. (By the way, the Science Projects in the Humor section here are from The Spark and are priceless! If you haven't read them you should.)

That being said, I'm not really here looking for love. Friends, sure. People to have strange conversations with, absolutely! I suppose it's possible love could find me...but I'm not waiting with baited breath.

What I’m doing with my life

The future is cloudy...Very cloudy. Ask again in ten years.

I’m really good at

I can tie my shoes with one hand, in case it ever becomes necessary.

The first things people usually notice about me

They probably notice that I'm walking down the street singing really loudly (and possibly offkey...but I don't think that happens so very often).

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

I love food. End of story. But I really love Thai food.

I mostly watch bad movies with my friends...we regularly have "12 year old girl movie" nights. Or "Really crappy horror movie" nights. (I'm less keen on the later...horror movies aren't my thing.) Recent movies we've watched: The Morgue (terrible!), Another Cinderella Story (it was ok if I'm really nice), Whisper (trite, easy to call...but with a satisfying ending). On a different note, if you're interested in seeing a deceptively GOOD movie, rent D.E.B.S. It's amazing and you would never expect it to be.

As far as music goes, I'm currently on a MIKA kick (which means I'm watching his YouTube videos over and over and over again). Other bands/people/groups I love: Regina Spektor, Liz Phair, Maroon 5, Scissor Sisters, Peaches, A*Teens, Adele. I have an unending fondness for pop music.

And so I'm left to books, my most favorite things. I had to consult my book shelf to decide what to put up here. First, a list of books I've recently read and enjoyed: Starship Troopers, The Forever War, Divalicious 1&2, Planetes 1-6, Native Son, An Invisible Sign of My Own, Stardust. Now a list of authors I love, and if you haven't read them, you should: Dorothy Allison, James Alan Gardner, Diana Wynne Jones, Gregory Maguire.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Of late I've been thinking a lot about Clock Mailbox.

On a typical Friday night I am

Probably at home. I don't go out...definitely not interested in hanging out at bars.

On a good Friday night I'm either watching 12 year old girl movies or playing Arkham Horror with my friends.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

Stories in the newspaper (or on ccn.com) of the "I was stuck in a car for 8 days and drank rainwater to survive" variety make me want to cry. (A happy cry.)

You should message me if

You want to. How's that for being open ended?
