My self-summary Propose an edit

Active DC/MD suburb native, still living in the area and working during the week, and don't get out of the house too much on work nights. Those nights usually end up being filled with dinner, TV, DVDs, video games, listening to music and/or reading. I also spend a lot of time working on writing dance music; it's kind of experimental, but still bass heavy and funky. Sometimes I'll grab a drink after work, if friends want to meet up. Weekends I hang out with friends, go biking or snowboarding depending on the weather, and usually go out in DC or occasionally drive up to Baltimore and go to shows, parties, concerts, whatever.

I notice that these sites seem to push me towards teachers, graduate & PhD holders. Might be some sort of technological hint-dropping about what I could move on to myself.

Looking to meet people, date, etc. since my circle of friends in real-life is not offering up too many new people, and no one to date lately. Lots of friends and family getting married, having kids, settling down, while I seem to be on my last stand, or something like that. All things I want eventually, just not right now.

Also, I want a dog, but my life right now would make that very difficult. It would not be fair to the dog.

What I'm doing with my life Propose an edit

Working full-time since getting out of college, and for the past seven years I worked as a government contractor in the DC area. I recently went through about two months of interviewing for a university position, and I start my new job in late November '08. Realllllllllly excited about that, the position sounded fun, the team I would be on seemed like nice people and the benefits are incredible. So good bye to the contractor world, hello to the academic environment!

I travel when I can afford it (weekends, national, international), trying to keep my condo together, writing dance music when I'm inspired, collecting art (mainly prints, but some other interesting stuff on postcards and stickers), watching a lot of movies and collecting music. I also try to exercise a few times a week and sampling different beers of the world.

I am going back to school part-time starting around June '09, and working on a new degree. I am trying to learn how to play blackjack better. And apparently I make some delicious mix drinks, according to friends, so I need to expand the repertoire.

I'm really good at Propose an edit

Snowboarding, biking and swimming, producing dance music and I can also Dj; not scratching but beat matching and making mixes.

The first thing(s) people usually notice about me Propose an edit

My eyes, or my grin or smile, however shoe gazers notice my shoes first.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food Propose an edit

My literary interests range from cyber-punk ("Neuromancer" and "Snow Crash" being the most notable), to rambling fiction and the occasional "teach yourself _____" type books as well. Recently read "Snuff" and working through loaned copies of Don DeLillo's "American" and "The Hobbit". I collect some art books as well: Mike Giant, Jeff Soto, Evan Hecox, Jose Parla, snow/skate/surf board graphics and graffiti books. I like magazines a lot, and read several different ones, such as Anthem, Computer Music, Knowledge, Lodown and occasionally Juxtapose.

I watch a lot of random movies, from obscure third cinema films to super trashy blockbusters. Since this past spring, through this autumn, I have been to the cinema at least ten times... granted, I can't say all of the films have been memorable, but I like seeing certain things on the big screen rather then at home.

My music interests are hard to describe. I like a lot of electronic music (drum'n'bass, dubstep, electro-house, etc.), which I will just leave at that, but I like various bands too. I guess I lean towards the post-punk, indie rock and dance rock bands, and a little bit of hip-hop. I'm rarely in to what is played on the radio, I prefer to discover new music for myself; word of mouth, blogs, reviews.

I like food. Belgian food (especially the beers), Chinese food (dim sum), Japanese food, Mexican food. Brunch is good times.

I spend a lot of time thinking about Propose an edit

Traveling, making music, sex, music, when lunch is, what's going on after work, going back to school, getting better at things that interest me.

Not staying in. I will usually go out with friends or hang out.

The most private thing I'm willing to admit here Propose an edit

I dislike horror movies and will stare at the corner of the screen the entire film if I am forced to watch one.

You should message me if Propose an edit

You have a pool. I have swim trunks. You heard about a good restaurant or a relaxed bar, and you'd like company to go check it out, see if it lives up to the word among your peers. Or if you like fancy beers and "nurse the third." Or if you would fancy a bicycle ride sometime.

You should message me if you're interested in checking out a DC area art gallery some time, or if you can show me a good gallery up in Baltimore. Or there is a band or Dj playing, and you want someone to experience the show, the spectacle of the performance. You have an extra ticket to a sporting event, but you don't want a die-hard fan along for the ride, you'd prefer someone who might know the game but isn't caught up in following the stats.

Feel things out. If it warrants meeting up, then lets do that instead of just going "oh yeah, I have a profile on OKC, but I never do anything with it."
