My self-summary
I'm an easy-going, fun, intelligent, poly, Queer guy with a love of life and an interest in meeting new friends and potential partners.
What I’m doing with my life
Enjoying it. There's much more to me than I'm willing to put in a profile with my picture on it, but I guess that's what messaging is for, right?

Also, I just discovered how to make some of my profile searchable, so those little blue boxes are not me randomly highlighting words, I promise.
I’m really good at
Looking at situations from different perspectives, thinking outside the box, working with my hands (and get your mind out of the gutter, I didn't mean it like that!), being prepared with that thing you didn't know you needed/wanted yet, finding fun tshirts that let me "talk" while still being a bit shy about approaching people (one of my favorites says "plays well with others").
The first things people usually notice about me
Well, it might not be the first, but people tend to notice my fuzzy head pretty early on and get this look like they want to pet it, but don't want to be rude, so they resist until they can't stand it anymore and then ask. I almost always say "yes." In fact, I often get haircuts just before I plan on seeing a bunch of people to encourage touching. What can I say? I'm a touch-friendly person.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: I love books. Paperbackswap is a fantastic invention. Lately, I've mostly been reading sci-fi/fantasy with a variety of audiobooks for the car. I have a deep love of books and a massive collection of a variety of fiction types as well as reference and other non-fiction (although I have a bad habit of getting non-fiction books about topics I'd love to know more about, then not actually reading them). "You might want to check out this book on that subject . . ." is something I'm known for saying when friends are looking for information. Some of my favorite authors are Tamora Pierce, Terry Pratchett, Eoin Colfer, Wen Spencer, Mary Roach, and David Sedaris.

Music: Seriously eclectic, but I'm a big folkie and enjoy upbeat music, including some with a bit of humor. My tastes range from gospel, folk, and bluegrass to standard rock. I play a variety of instruments and sing, am currently in a casual klezmer group as well as a more serious choral group, and have always had music as an important part of my life. Some of what I have been listening to lately includes: Brandi Carlile, Roosevelt Dime, Spuyten Duyvil, Coyote Grace, Girlyman, Indigo Girls, Arrogant Worms, Eddie From Ohio, and Moxie Fruvous.

TV: I don't watch much regularly, but enjoy a few shows online like Bones, Eureka, Battlestar Galactica, and Doctor Who. I generally need to keep my hands busy if I'm watching, so I often use tv as a way to get other stuff done that doesn't require much brain power.

Since it should go here, too...
Art and other creative hobbies: I like working with my hands and creating things, so I'm more likely to make gifts than buy them and often start projects just to see what it would be like to try something new and play with different materials. Some of the current ones include leathercare/bootblacking, chainmail, jewelry-making, and cooking/food preservation (think pickles, dehydrated foods, and canning).
The six things I could never do without
- my friends and chosen family
- Harvey, my actual New Zealand White rabbit
- a creative outlet
- Community (Queer and kink/bdsm are my big ones right now)
- music
- something to read
I spend a lot of time thinking about
what to do with the large quantity of some random ingredient in order to make it into something useful. This stems from some volunteering that I do. Sometimes my food experiments turn out surprisingly well (pina coloda fruit chips were fantastic!) and sometimes the lesson learned is "I don't need to make pomegranate molasses ever again," but it's almost always a fun adventure along the way.

Looking at the mundane in a new light and marveling at the world in which we live. Like have you ever really stopped to consider what the inside of a piano looks like?

I'm the kind of guy who doesn't mind getting lost once in a while (as long as i'm not in a hurry) because it lets me see new places I might never have gotten to otherwise. Enjoy the journey.
On a typical Friday night I am
Spending time with friends. I'm not a drinking and dancing kind of guy, but might go out to hear some music or get dinner and a movie.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
On here? To strangers? Well, I have a weakness for Xena fanfiction. Hey, some of it is really good!

Also, I've got a fetlife profile and recommend that you look at it if we're thinking of meeting up. Ask me for more info.
I’m looking for
  • Guys and girls who like bi guys
  • Ages 26–45
  • Near me
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating
You should message me if
You think it might be fun to get to know me better. I'm a queer guy and am most likely to be interested in someone who also has some ties to the queer community, whether or not they identify that way. If you've got a fetlife/FL profile? Even better.

You should especially message me if we have a high match percentage and you live in or around (reasonable travel distance is fine) the Greater Boston area.

FYI, I don't tend to approach people, so appreciate folks who make the first move and message me.
