I am laid back, active, and curious.

My Self-Summary

I love to hike, run, and cycle and am always up for trying new things.

I recently returned from a year-long backpacking trip through the Americas but am looking forward to being in one place for the time being.

I'm a law student. But I like to think I'm kind of a quirky, off-beat law student (if such a thing exists).

What I’m doing with my life

I began law school back in 2007, which should make me a 3L now. However, after a few months of school I found myself not really sure if law school was the right choice, soooo I decided to take the following year off...

I worked in Paraguay for awhile, then traveled with a friend through South America, up through Central America and Mexico and back to my hometown of Austin, TX. I took a breather and then returned to Nicaragua, where I spent 5 months working and traveling around.

Now I'm back at school, which can be high stress when I let it be, but I think I do a pretty good job of staying sane.

I’m really good at

Getting carded at bars. I was recently asked if I was a college freshman while walking to class. Providing a second form of id is pretty much standard. I figure this will work well for me in the future, and for the time being, I don't really care.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Music: The Decemberists, M. Ward, Jarabe de Palo, older Shakira, Josh Ritter, Julieta Venegas. Not a music snob by any means. Party in the USA may be my most played song this week.

Books: David Foster Wallace, Gabriel García Márquez, etc.

Movies: There are a bunch. I'm really bad at listing them because they change often.

Food: I have gotten really into cooking since returning to the States. It's so wonderful to have access to so much good food again.

The six things I could never do without

1) Travel. Ask anyone I know, and they'll tell you that I'm constantly itching to travel somewhere. I'm starting to think more about venturing out of my comfort zone of Latin America.

2) Dogs. Enough said.

3) Friends. I have wonderful friends from college, high school, and abroad. I stay in touch with them and love seeing them whenever I can.

4) The Outdoors. I love to hike. I love to run (outside). I love to cycle. I'm an active person and get frustrated when I feel cooped up indoors.

5) College football. Depending on who you are, this could be my biggest vice. My alma mater will probably win the national championship this year.

6) Flip flops. Before I moved the the Arctic Circle, I wore flip flops 365 days a year. My feet pine for them when I can't wear them.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

I can be a nerd. I love current events, especially politics. I like to work out ideas verbally and really enjoy engaging with people who can challenge me.

On a typical Friday night I am

I'm a pretty sociable person and need time with friends to wind down. I'm not too picky about what I do, so long as it's fun. I'm hoping to experience more of Boston and New England this year.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I'm double-jointed in my elbows. My mom, sister, and cousin are, too.

Also, I have no idea what I want to do with my life. Which is problematic when you're paying thousands of dollars to write "Esquire" next to your name...

You should message me if

You're generally happy with your life, laid back, and have an itch to explore.
