My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
If it weren't for the legal system and the laws of physics, I'd be unstoppable.

"Do I contradict myself? Very well then I contradict myself, (I am large, I contain multitudes)"

I am curious as to what makes you tick. I hope you have an open nature, a curious mind, a direct approach to communicating, a nimble mind, a sense of adventure (big and small), a sense of humor along with the other 5, a sardonic wit, a dark side, enjoy physical activity ( a lot) and you don't constantly complain when it rains here.

At heart, I am a sporty geek with a penchant for art, fashion, movies and music.

The list and such are great but they don't get to the heart of who you or who I am. That being said, here's a list. Yeah, I know but read above quote.

Active, smart (in a bookish and experience sort of way), witty at the very least, stylish, warm, open, curious, sardonic, sarcastic, adventurous, playful, physical, mercurial, direct, communicative, capable of intense navel gazing, artsy, keenly observant, talkative, quiet, shy, loud but never truly obnoxious.

I've become pickier about how I spend my time and with whom I spend it. I believe in loyalty and having your friend's back.

I like word games, word play and just plain words.

I am looking to meet someone to share time, space, activities, laughter and an exchange of ideas with for the time being, enjoy that time being and see where it goes from there. No pressure, no set timelines. I am looking for someone to complement me (and hey, compliment me too), not complete me. I am a pretty happy person and I take my own responsibility for it.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I dig the outdoors. I spend a lot of time on the paddleboard in the nice weather (and sometimes not so nice weather) and I have gained such an appreciation for the river and the different perspective it affords me. I also love rock climbing, biking, hiking, fly fishing and snowshoeing in the Winter though I'd like to add xc skiing to the Winter list as well. I have gotten back into yoga after a very long hiatus and as it resonates with me more and more, I have gotten more serious about it.

I love Instagram as it allows me to be my own little art director. I am really into close ups of organics to the point of obscuring the identity of topic. I like that approach to life sometimes too. Obliterate the obvious.

I watched a demo on encaustic collagraphs recently and am enthralled by it. I will be booking a workshop on it soon and I fear it could be a rabbit hole (of the best kind).

Aside from that, I am: staying active, being curious and open to possibilities and trying new things (on tap for the near future is surfing). Plotting, causing mischief, lending an ear or sometimes a shoulder, deepening my existing friendships, making new ones, wearing ridiculous shoes and sunglasses, being a good Auntie, figuring out how to find balance in everything, reading more or trying to, conquering fears, searching for the best Chinese food in Portland, eating and cooking more veggies, trying to keep a sense of humor about it all and milking every minute of life.

Breaking old habits and trying to make new and better ones. Looking for someone interesting and game for adventure, especially if you like to bike, snowshoe, climb, SUP, hike, be outdoors, be indoors checking out art, music, food or movies. But especially the part about being outdoors.

If I could do one thing and not fail at it, it would be soaring the skies in one of those wing suits. Because failing at that would pretty much suck.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Enjoying the beauty of life, feeling the beauty of life, breaking it down, rock climbing, sharing, getting babies to smile, connecting people, holding a straight line on my bike, putting people at ease, talking about baseball, trying new things, finding just the right gift, making people laugh, laughing at myself (and sometimes other people), remembering to turn my cell phone off at the movies, back rubs,giving/receiving compliments, picking a restaurant, getting out of town, dissecting movies, thrift store karma, spontaneity, hair pulling (but bald is good too, bald is sexy), not remembering jokes, indulging my friend's children, kissing, walking dogs, smelling the flowers, sleeping in and sharing meals.
There are some things I am not "really good" at but I am always game to improve: being braver, balancing, headstands, weeding, cutting through the crap.
The first things people usually notice about me

My keen fashion sense.
Once they get to know me though, it's usually my gregarious nature, my off kilter sense of humor and the fact I seem to know someone almost anywhere I go (and if I don't, I will by the time I leave).

Night of the Hunter, Funny Bones, To Kill a Mockingbird, old musicals, The Artist, Jacob's Ladder, Search for the Wrong Eyed Jesus, To Catch a Thief, Pursued, Amelie, Bubba Ho Tep, City of Lost Children, Let the Right One In (original), James Bond Movies (except the Dalton years), The Beginners, The Ides of March, Blade Runner, Shawshank Redemption (the closest thing to a "perfect" movie), Bull Durham, Last Stop Wonderland, Aria, Soul Kitchen, Crazy Stupid Love, Wings of Desire, Pina, Out of Sight, The Transporter (but only the 1st one), Logan's Run, Moonrise Kingdom, Out of the Past, Despicable Me, Hellboy, Cabin in the Woods was a hoot,Beasts of the Southern Wild, Marwencol, Her had my brain tripping for days, Beauty is Embarassing. Movies with a twist that you don't see coming. Most anything by the Coen Brothers, Hitchcock, Billy Wilder, George Clooney (as writer or director) and Tim Burton (though he's getting sort of tiresome these days). Recently saw a couple of Turkish films that, while I really enjoyed the movies, damn they were long.

Masterpiece anything and the occasional big sporting event. Really, I don't watch much TV except for movie rentals.

The Mermen, Friends of Dean Martinez, X, Luna, Led Zep, Metallica, Swervedriver, My Bloody Valentine, Goldfrapp, Chemical Brothers, Louis Prima, Chet Baker, Sonic Youth, The Replacements, The Didjits, Morphine, Dandy Warhols, Violent Femmes, The Minutemen, Bossa Nova,The Verve, Medecine, Chelsea Wolfe, Bombay Dub Orchestra, Fluke, Andy Hunter, Black Flag/Henry Rolllins, Girl Trouble, Beat Happening, The Nomads, Hybrid, Justice, Miles Davis, Gang of Four, Alex Chilton, Loretta Lynn, VU, Jesus and Mary Chain, XTC, The Sea and Cake, Tame Impalas, Joy Formidable, The Black Angels, She and Him, Muse, Earth Wind & Fire, Eisley Bros. and old school anything. Lately I am really digging this young kid named Nick Waterhouse. Not a fan of the Top 40, American Idol produced or anyone that came off a TV show. Saw the Meat Puppets not too long ago and they KILLED it.

My new (at least to me) sonic discovery is Moon Duo.

Artists: Cindy Sherman, Gerhard Richter, Helen Frankenthaler, Georgia O'Keefe, Frida Kahlo, Wayne White and Mark Hogancamp (see documentary Marwencol about him).

I like food, all sorts. I especially like well made food that isn't super fancy or too precocious. I really like eggs. Fresh veggies, especially on the grill. I like Thai, Vietnamese, Chinese and Japanese food. I like seasonal cooking. I like knowing where my food came from but I admittedly have a pantry of snacky type things and good chocolate. I like Biwa, Bollywood, Terrebonne Depot, The Observatory, Toro Bravo, VQ, Cameo Cafe (breakfast) and Evoe (which has sadly closed). Oh yeah, pie! I love pie, especially for breakfast.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
In no particular order:
My friends and family and their love/support
My 5 senses
My ability to physically still do things that I am passionate about and the gear that goes with them
My Cats
Good food/drink shared with great conversation
Passion
My keen fashion sense
A sense of humor
Balsamic Vinegar
Good books
Music
My phone
A comfortable bed
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
What does it all mean and where the hell do I fit in to it? How do we, as humans, connect to each other and to our natural world? Is it still possible? How do we make room for one another?

Words. I think about words a lot. Their sound, their shape, the etymology, how we use them, how we misuse them and how we don't use them when sometimes we should. What is the meaning of any one word, how can it have multiple meanings, what is it in one context vs another?

How our brains work. Why does some music tickle my brain?

Hearing vs. listening

I think about color and texture, form and function, form vs function. Aesthetics. Art.

The past: acknowledging it without letting it define me. Not living there but in the here and now. My personal evolution.

How to be more mindful, honest without being hurtful, to listen more clearly.

Taking a trip.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Lately it's been an early night out with friends so I can be up early to go climbing, paddling, do yoga, snow shoeing or out for a ride.
At the Art Museum on Free Fridays
Seeing a movie
Debating the merits of above art/movie
But I could be doing laundry because I like to live on the edge that way.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm adopted. It makes filling out medical histories go a lot faster.
And I love grocery stores.

Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
If you think something may happen between us. Something fun, enlightening, electric, adventurous, sincere, playful, happiness inducing.

If you want to get outside and play.

Politically, you lean left, believe that marriage is a right that everyone should enjoy and you think the Bible is a really long (and not always well written) piece of literature.
You're curious, have a capacity for silliness and joy, you believe in being fit and that being fit keeps you young, you have mad Scrabble skills, quirks ( you have em, you realize others do too and you embrace that) and you're ok with not having an agenda all the time.
