My self-summary
I'm Lucy: born and raised Anchorageite. I do a lot of different stuff, but mostly school and work. I like social things but I'm pretty introverted and socially anxious, which means I come across as extremely socially energetic and engaging and then.... don't initiate conversations ever because it's hard. Parties sort of suck.

I paint a lot, because it's my degree. If I had the time, I would do it more! I do a lot of naked people, and abstract shit. Please don't send me a message asking if I can draw/paint you naked, you have no idea how many of those I get a week and it's sort of the OKCupid version of the retail "So that's not ringing up, I guess it's free huehuehue" at this point. I enjoy a lot of different genres of art - Abstract Expressionism (Cy Twombly is mah man), Australian Aboriginal art. Love Yayoi Kusama, Jenny Saville, Francis Bacon.... I dabble in printmaking, too, just less frequently.

I'm pretty feministy/on the left side of politics (pro-choice, in favor of comprehensive gun control, universal healthcare/social welfare, respecting pronouns etc etc it goes on and on...). I'm fairly low-key about it, but it's still pretty important to me so if that's not something you can really take seriously, we might not get along very well! Sometimes I knit. I've been getting really into makeup as a hobby lately, because it's a hell of a lot of fun and a little more accessible than fashion (which I used to be into). I really really like space - I wanted to be an astrophysicist in high school but I am godawful at math, so that was right out. But I can still talk REALLY ENTHUSIASTICALLY about quasars and shit and all the sweet exoplanets we're finding out about, pluuuuus that one weird light pattern around that distant star that sort of looks like it could be giant megastructures? Space is pretty great.

I guess that's about it.
My biggest disclaimer is that I'm more just interested in... good interactions, I guess? Conversation and getting to know a person, maybe doing some fun things. I'm fresh out of a long-term relationship, so I'd like to take things easy for a while.
What I’m doing with my life
The boring stuff: Currently working towards my Bachelor of Fine Arts, graduating in Spring 2016 bar any major catastrophic failure. I mix paint for money, which is more fun than you'd think.
Extracurriculars: I rock climb very occasionally, I like to read sci-fi and other books when I have the time, lift weights at the gym 4x a week (beginner, but it's a lot of fun and I'd like to stick with it), intermittent knitting
I’m really good at
Painting (I think), reading too many books, being sad about things, being angry about things, waxing enthusiastic about whatever's interesting me at the moment, cropdusting the unsuspecting
The first things people usually notice about me
Redhead, glasses, either polite and nice or sort of brash and irreverent depending on how I'm reading you.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: It's a pretty wide range, but I've been reading a lot of sci-fi lately - big fan of Iain Banks (especially Consider Phlebas, Player of Games, The Algebraist) and Peter Watts (esp. Blindsight, Starfish). Read a lot of fantasy when I was younger - LotR, Harry Potter, ASOIAF, etc - but not so much anymore. Nonfiction - I've been trying (and failing) to get through Douglas Hofstadter's "I Am a Strange Loop" for about five years now.

Movies: Meh. I enjoy them, but not a lot of standouts are coming to mind right now! I tend to enjoy anything directed by Guillermo del Toro.

Shows: I actually don't watch a lot of TV! Arrested Development is great, though.

Music: oh man. there's a lot here! TV on the Radio, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, The Black Keys, Johnny Cash, Janelle Monae, Amanda Palmer/Dresden Dolls, Sage Francis, Regina Spektor, CocoRosie, The Strokes, old school Modest Mouse, Godspeed You! Black Emperor if I'm feeling alt. I've been getting into Joanna Newsom and her weird musical genius - I just got her new album and I'm absolutely in love.
Sometimes I listen to Beck, Florence Welch, stuff like that. The 90s alt channel on Pandora if I'm feeling nostalgic.

Food: I'm lazy, which means I'm a boring cook. I'll eat pretty much anything, though I have a strange aversion to most fruits and mushrooms. Texture thing. I don't know - I like fancy shit but burgers and fries are nice too. Pho is great. Thai is great. Indian/Nepalese is great. Feed me and I'll be happy.
On a typical Friday night I am
Working. Complaining about the tyranny of the corporate world. Sleeping, probably.
