My self-summary
I am a passionate person, and I tend to be loyal, introspective, caring, thoughtful, family-oriented, and very, very sociable. I’m also very independent and have a lot of varied interests. Having said that, while I am very comfortable doing lots of things on my own, I am very much looking for a partner with whom I can share life’s adventures.

I’ve spent the last few years working extremely hard on my career, and now that things have stabilized, I’m looking to create a much more balanced life and to spend a whole lot more time enjoying all of the wonderful things that life, love, and this wonderful city have to offer.

I love to travel. Both my parents are from Europe, and I have definitely inherited the travel/movement bug. Have visited a number of countries in Europe and traveled a bunch in the states and in the Caribbean and Mexico. This year’s destinations include Vieques, Puerto Rico (I know, not far, but I haven't been there yet), Alaska (maybe a cruise), and Scotland (again).

I’m pretty committed to education, and I love learning, so I am often involved in some kind of a project, seminar, retreat, or class where I’m working on something that interests me. I do believe that life is precious and finite, and I think I kinda owe it to myself to see how much I can do and be and contribute to the world in this life. I like to experience all that I can.

My newest exploration is in the world of fitness. I’ve recently gotten back into yoga and Pilates, which has been great, as I’d forgotten how much I love both of these practices. I prefer exercise to be doing fun things (like Samba, belly- or other kinds of dancing) or outdoorsy things (like walking in some lovely part of the city); but I finally caved - joined a gym and hired a trainer, so I am now enjoying much more intense training.

By the way, although this profile says I live in Ridgewood, I do not. While I actually live in Glendale, I also consider Brooklyn and Manhattan to be my homes, as I spend SO much of my time there.
What I’m doing with my life
Currently working as an Assistant Principal at a high school in Brooklyn - a job I love. In my off time, I like to: Share dinner or drinks with friends. Dance. Read. Explore the city. Dream up or plan new adventures. Take long walks in one of many parks or elsewhere in the city. Take weekend road trips. Spend time with family. Visit museums. Attend shows. Travel. Write. Do some yoga or Pilates. Cook healthy meals. Work on photo projects. Visit the beach and/or spend time near water. And otherwise nurture my soul.
I’m really good at
Teaching. Writing. Listening. Growing. Taking photographs. Complimenting others. Being genuine and honest. Buying thoughtful gifts. Parallel parking. Organizing. Baking. Nurturing children. Appreciating art. Mentoring teachers. Convincing teenagers that they are capable of more than they realize. Buying fun earrings. Showing people around NYC. Trying new things. Experiencing joy in response to really simple things - the arrival of daffodils and tulips in the spring; the wonder of snowflakes in winter; kids laughing at something silly (or being silly); the way a dog walks cheerily down the street. I'm also good at enjoying the big things too: adventure; travel; deep friendship; love.
The first things people usually notice about me
My hair - people often comment on my hair. After that, maybe my thoughtfulness? Or the shade of my eyes. Not sure. You tell me...
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Love many of the classics, but I do like a range, and love to peruse the shelves and tables at bookstores. Some of the authors I enjoy include: Nabokov, Butler, Coehlo, Van Booy, Rich, Lorde, Hurston, Neruda, Walls, Smith, etc. There are just so many - too many to list.

Films: also like a range, but haven't gotten to the movies as much as I'd like this year. Perhaps you can help me remedy that?

Music: I generally like anything that has a great beat and/or tells a great story. Indigo Girls, Joni Mitchell, and Pink are among my soul favorites. Since I love to dance, I think anything that gets me moving is awesome!

Shows: Also a range. Do love the theatre, and I am slightly partial to musicals - love the movement and flow of them. Wicked, Stomp, and Lord of the Rings (the musical) have been amongst my favorites. But I will see just about anything.
The six things I could never do without
the arts
travel
proximity to nature or the outdoors
youthful optimism and spirit
the people I love
music/dance
I spend a lot of time thinking about
my next adventure or travel destination. Ideals I want to pursue. The content of essays, poems, or articles I'd like to write. How to provide my students and teachers with richer learning experiences. How to fit in all the cool stuff I'd like to do - in NYC and beyond.
On a typical Friday night I am
If I'm out, I might be having dinner or drinks with friends, exploring NYC somehow, dancing, at a yoga class maybe. If I'm in, I might be reading, writing, cooking, visiting my nieces and nephews, or simply recovering from an intense work week.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Recently saw the original Superman movie and was reminded that Christopher Reeves as Superman was my first crush. I was 5. And I was equally in love with him as Superman and as Clark Kent.
