I am sweet, artsy, and sassy.
My Self-Summary
I love
cats and cool
sunny fall days. I love apple orchards and spending the day with my
family on the boat getting a lil' bit sunburned. I love to
knit and do pottery
and dabble in painting and
writing. I
read everything I can get my hands on (as
long as it's fiction!). There is never a day when I don't spend at
least 1/2 hr. reading something!
I have a passion for all things
French. I love to
travel, specifically by car so you can
see everything! I am afraid of spiders and scary movies. I am
outspoken and blunt sometimes to a fault :) I am fiercely loyal to
my friends and family. I'm also a bit of a feminist!
I have a strange weakness for swedish fish and my sweet
kitties, Stella and Sophie.
What I’m doing with my life
I graduated from
Michigan State
University (MSU) with a degree in English w/ cognates in
French and
Sociology in 2003. I just finished my Masters Degree in Higher
Education Administration in the College of Education at MSU.
I just started a job at the University of New Mexico so I'm new to
the Albuquerque area!
I’m really good at
Hmmmm...
Putting people at ease
A card game called Euchre (which you won't know of unless you are
from Michigan)
Artsy stuff: writing, knitting, pottery, singing (though I don't
sing in public! I've sworn off karaoke since an unfortunate
incident years ago involving tequila and Garth Brooks' "Friends in
Low Places"....)
Making children laugh... kids just love me :)
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm a gregarious person, friendly, outgoing, and easily
approachable. I have a cute little
piercing in my nose, as it is on my
face, I imagine people notice that as well (even though it took
several CLOSE friends almost two months to notice I even did it
years ago)...
Also, my eyes never look quite the same color... Sometimes they are
very very green w/ gold flecks, sometimes gray, sometimes blue-ish?
Strange mood-ring eyes.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Kushiel
Trilogy by Jacqueline Carey, Atonement by Ian McEwan, the Griffin
and Sabine books by Nick Bantock, Empire Falls by Richard Russo,

The six things I could never do without
1) books - I never go a day without reading 2) my adorable
cats - they keep life
interesting 3) my family - they are my anchor and rock 4) my
ipod - music keeps me
sane 5) friends - good friends that have been there through
everything are priceless 6)
bubble baths - grad school is
crazy enough, bubble baths help me de-stress AND smell/feel lovely
and pampered.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
New Mexico.... The current
political/social climate in the U.S.,
my hell-raising sister,
movies,
books I'm reading/have read, friends,
family, happiness and living a simple (NOT BORING), good life.
On a typical Friday night I am
Gathered with a small group of friends around a bottle of
wine (or pints of
beer), watching a movie, out
and about, or all of the above, just not at once.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I watch the History Channel for fun... :)
You should message me if
you can laugh at yourself, have an open mind about full figured
ladies, love to try new things and share things you love with
others, like (or can tolerate pets of the feline persuasion), like
to read, enjoy movies and cultural events, and love a sometimes
sarcastic woman who can hold her own in a conversation.
