My self-summary
My personality tab kinda makes me seem like a dick, but I'm really not.

I enjoy reading, writing and playing games of all kinds: board, card and video, though I'm not "wait in line at midnight for the release" sort. I'm currently working nights and finishing my BA and professional certification.

I'm completely addicted to learning, a total information addict. I can spend hours reading wikipedia and I listen to lectures and books on Mp3 when I'm not in school. Unfortunately, my current schedule leaves very little time for pleasure reading, but I listen to audio books at work.

I try to be a bit of a jack of all trades, or a "renaissance man" if you want to use the more flattering term. I know a little bit about a lot of things and I'll always see if I think I can handle a task before I hire a professional.

I'm trying to be more concerned about my physical well being and appearance, but I have an unfortunate tendency to think of my body as a husk that carries my brain around. One thing at a time, I suppose.

I generally make an effort to be less cynical, and I think it's working out for me, but occasionally I succumb. I find that I'm a lot happier in general if I don't reflexively crap on things I dislike.

I think I come across as very somber and serious sometimes, but I think that's because of how much I value comic timing. The "Silent Bob" school of interpersonal interaction, if you will.
What I’m doing with my life
I initially went to school for Environmental Policy, with an eye towards law school. Turns out Environmental Policy is a field where no one is ever happy with the results and hardly anyone acts reasonably.

So I wandered around for a few years trying to figure out what I wanted from the rest of my life.

Initially I planned on teaching at the high school level, but the reception to my writing at college has been very positive, so I've decided to switch to a history BA and go on to grad school with an eye towards working in museums.
I’m really good at
Having a ridiculously broad yet mostly useless base of information.

Cooking, though mostly pizzas, pasta and Asian food.

Coloring. Can't draw worth a crap, but hanging out with my niece reminded me that I'm world-class with crayons.

Explaining things to people. It's why I originally wanted to be a teacher, and why I'm going into interpretation now.

My google-fu is strong. If they handed out belts for it, mine would be black hole black. If it exists on the Internet, I can find it.

Strategy & Games.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm tall, though not exceptionally so.
My eyes are an unusual color.

Apparently I'm very blunt. I feel like I'm holding back.

Non-fiction:I read some political stuff, mostly comedy. I can't be assed to read some hack's lopsided views on any issue. I tend more towards sociology, history and ecology in my non-fiction.

I read at least one book a month and listen to two or three while I'm at work.
The six things I could never do without
I'm gonna reject this stupid question and substitute my own:

"If you could have any superhero's powers, who would you pick?"

Spider-man.
Now, I know geeks out there will say, "Spider-man? He's small time, why not a showstopper like Superman or someone ultra rich and suave like Batman or Iron Man?"
And I'll say, "Because swinging from building from a web while having the senses and reflexes to be confident you won't hurt yourself sounds like the most fun a human being can possible have."

Also, Spider-sense is OP.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The past and the future. Science and spirituality. The environment and economics. Language and music. Pretty much everything
On a typical Friday night I am
Working. Though on Saturday night I'm usually playing games with friends.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I was simultaneously an Eagle Scout and card-carrying member of the Communist Party USA.

Thanks to America's obesity epidemic and my own weight loss, I'm now less fat than the average American for the first time in my adult life.

You need graphic novel recommendations.

You're bored on the Internet. This is easily fixable, you don't have to suffer.
