Born/raised in central Jersey. 25% each of the following ethnicities: Swedish, French, English, German.
2003-2007. BA Int'l. Relations. Minors: French and Japanese. Thesis Woodrow Wilson School and Kansai University
2008-2010. Army Intelligence.
2011-2013 moved back to NY. Television network advertising agent.
Presently: NYU 2013 - TBD.
Politics: socially liberal, but fiscally conservative.
Studied a summer in Montpellier, France. Taught French, German, & Japanese to undergrads as a TA and/or tutor.
Wrote a senior research paper while living/studying in Osaka under a Fellow at Princeton on "Buying as Being: Commodification of Beauty, Status, and Self in Post-War Modern Japan" (scoffs at own grandiloquent title). More confused about Japan than when I got there. Had a shiba-inu. Graduated. Worked in accounting briefly. Hated it. Quit.
Joined military intelligence instead of going to law school. Army sent me to school on orders anyway. Nonplussed by plan to embroil self in legally questionable international conflict being foiled. Attempted to write a novel. Only finished 3 chapters. Worked in Monterey, California a few years. Saved a bunch of money. Got out of the Army and moved back East to work in NY for a giant but generally beneficent corporation.
Places I've lived/traveled: NYC, China, all states on the American east coast, Bahamas, Mexico, Jamaica, Disney World, Germany, France, Bermuda, England, Austria, Canada, Belgium, Switzerland, Japan, Alaska, California, Guam, and last but not least Liechtenstein. See where I end up from here...
Things I dislike: Misbehaved children, unruly animals, and high maintenance loudmouth women with attitudes. Incompetence reinforced by authority. Unnecessary complexity. Those who foist their beliefs on others. Being made to wait without a good reason. Talking on the phone when I could do it in person. Waking up early. Getting sandy, sweaty, and/or sticky.
Things I like: Sparsely furnished rooms without clutter. Tennis. Quiet locales in close proximity to major cities. Dried fruit. A well-turned phrase. Schadenfreude. Relaxing listening to bebop with a refreshing beverage. Reliable, efficient, clean, and convenient public transportation a la Paris (depends which area) or Tokyo. Staying up late. Going somewhere I've never been.
