My Self-Summary

I just started a masters in Computer Science after spending a few years in industry. It's keeping me pretty busy but it's a lot of fun too.

Staying fit is important to me, I'm very active and into a lot of sports. I run year round and have done a couple marathons, during the winter I also like to X-country ski. I'll also play a bunch of other sports like soccer, volleyball, flag football, curling and whatever else comes up.

I'm generally a very relaxed and easygoing person and I love to learn new things. I also have a lot of great family in and around Edmonton including some awesome nephews and little cousins.

What I’m doing with my life

I'm doing a Masters in Computer Science at the UofA and trying to keep my head from exploding.

I’m really good at

Coming up with fairly obscure pop culture references that no one else gets...

Maybe "good at" isn't the best description for that talent.

The first things people usually notice about me

I'm far too happy and energetic for whatever the situation is.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

I mostly read science fiction, fantasy, and some literature. A few of my favourite authors are Arthur C. Clarke, J.R.R. Tolkien, Hemmingway, and Joseph Conrad. I've also been reading a lot of research papers recently, which has been quite a pleasant and exciting experience compared to the time I read Ulysses.

For movies finding anything better than The Princess Bride would be absolutely, totally, and in all other ways inconceivable. Some other good flicks are Fight Club, most things by Quentin Tarantino, the Shawshank Redemption, and The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly.

For Music I tend to range around though have always loved Dylan, Johnny Cash, Simon and Garfunkel, Leonard Cohen, and Beethoven.

The six things I could never do without

Computers, running shoes, tea, the Internet, snow, and sharks with lasers.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

The future, the past, the meaning of life, what item I'm forgetting to add to my grocery list, stuff, and how to finish the assignment I'm doing.

All probably in that order.

On a typical Friday night I am
