My Self-Summary
Firstly, the username 'randomosity' is really mostly intended as an irony as well as a semi-goal. I'm a fairly organized, patterned person who tries to be more random, chaotic and/or whimsical just to make life more interesting and less predictable. At the same time if someone shoes me something "random" I tend to consider it to really be a pattern that I just can't see, in my opinion we're better off not seeing and understanding EVERYTHING (like the patterns of chaotic systems) or else we'll start taking it for granted and exploiting it rather then appreciate it for what it is.
I'm a very honest and direct type of person. Of course it's extremely difficult to be totally honest and simultaneously never be a hypocrite, as far as I'm concerned it's just part of the human condition that we can't always follow even our own rules.
I enjoy and value my friends above all else. I like to talk or debate on all kinds of matter when an interesting subject or question comes to mind.
I enjoy most art in it's various forms (and at least respect the rest.) I lead a fairly simple and relatively drama free life and generally enjoy it. I am definitely more of an introvert than an extrovert.
I'm usually comfortable talking around small groups of people, the more people there are (and the less I know and trust them) the quieter I tend to get, but I will usually still be intently listening and interested.
My memory works best with systematic or patterned information, other more random information like linking names with faces do unfortunately takes me longer unless I can find some kind of mnemonic to help keep it in mind, so please don't be offended if I forget your name at first.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm considering going back to school, trying to determine if I should continue my previous schooling to a BA in what I'm somewhat interested in (computer networking), or should just go to much cheaper community college classes to get education in what I'm more interested in (computer/web programming.)
Currently I'm single and perfectly happy with that, I just like keeping my life simpler and clear of drama, but that doesn't mean I'm opposed to any kind of changes in that department either.
I’m really good at
I'm good at giving advice, but I'll admit to being a hypocrite all too often in these regards. I tend to over-simplify things, but it seems to me that most people tend to make things more complex then they need to be or see things as more complex then they are.
I'm good at working on structured projects and following a plan of some persuasion. Any kind of project I just try to 'wing' usually ends up half-done.
The first things people usually notice about me
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Books:
I'm not exactly an avid reader, largely due to the fact that I'm a slow reader, but given the right book or author this can be overcome. I've read most of Chuck Palahniuk's books (all novels up to "Invisible Monsters", and part way through "Haunted".) I also read William Gibson's "Neuromancer" and "Virtual Light" and Poppy Z. Brite's "Lost Souls" and "Drawing Blood". I mostly tend to enjoy anything that is well written and has some good social commentary too it. In the non-fiction realm (besides a bunch of computer related books) I enjoyed Howard Bloom's "The Lucifer Principle" which (despite it's title) is about sociology and the evolution of human nature and human ideologies.
Movies:
This would take forever, I own 500+ DVDs and now a few Blu-rays. I mostly like anything intelligent or inventive, especially sci-fi, horror, anime, social commentaries, and select (read not stupid or dry) comedies. All time favorites would be The Fifth Element, 28 Days Later, the "Aliens" series, American Beauty, The Cell, Dark City, Dogma, Donnie Darko, Equilibrium, The Fountain, Gattaca, Identity, Lady in the Water, the "Matrix" trilogy, Mirrormask, Memento, Paranoia 1.0, Pump up the Volume, The Ring/Ringu, Saw, Serial Experiments: Lain, Stay, Stigmata, Strange Days, V for Vendetta, Vanilla Sky, and Waking Life.
Music:
I'm a little picky about music, but I tend to like (or dislike) a given artist's whole career rather then just a single album. I'm a big fan of originality and the ability to pull off something unique while keeping it interesting to listen to, anything to slow or redundant or generally unremarkable just usually doesn't keep me interested. Genre wise I'm a big fan of industrial, EBM, future pop, and trip hop in general, but then I also like some punk, metal, Drum and Bass, alternative, and very select hip hop and occasional classical/movie scores. Particular favorites would be: A Perfect Circle, AFI, Apoptygma Berzerk, Bad Religion, Bjork, Covenant, The Eels (mostly the first two albums), Faithless, Imperative Reaction, Iris, Kidneythieves, KMFDM/MDFMK, Linkin Park/Fort Minor, Clint Mansell, Mindless Self Indulgence, Neuroticfish, Nine Inch Nails, ohGr, Orbital, Outcast, Pennywise, Portishead, (early) Radiohead, Rotersand, Smashing Pumpkins, Tool, Tricky, and VNV Nation.
Television:
I'm not a big TV junkie, but there are or have been a few good shows out there I've followed such as: Battlestar Galatica (the new Sci-Fi channel incarnation), Carnivàle, Dead Like Me, Dexter, Farscape, Firefly, Lost, Millenium, MythBusters, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, The X-Files.
Food:
I'm not much of a cook myself, but I love going out for dinner. I eat meat, but have lived as a vegetarian/vegan for several years while my mother and her significant other were when I was a younger, and know that good vegetarian/vegan food is possible if a bit hard to find. I especially enjoy Cajun, Chinese, Indian, Italian, Japanese, Mexican, Nepalese, Russian, and Vietnamese. I'm not really a big fan of seafood or raw foods.
The six things I could never do without
the Internet and by extension computers,
The arts (music, movies, books, food, etc)
... ... ...
Food is already covered, how about the other necessities for life I.E. shelter, water and whatnot.
That's really about it, Friends really are the most important thing to me most of the time.
