My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Grew up in North Carolina. Former teacher. Lived abroad for a bit in South America before going to law school. Moved to DC about a year ago. Work in the education policy field. Am passionate about it but often feel like I have to fake it until I make it at work because of the learning curve. I seem to get by through using a smorgasbord of DC phrases: metric, let's circle back, leverage, wheelhouse, robust, "in the weeds," branding, [insert acronym] and the list goes on. Still, I like it a lot and am glad I'm here. I find myself enjoying the city, meeting new people, and trying to find the balance between work and fun.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Just trying to make America again.

A lot of days: Work, Eat, Sleep, Repeat. However, with some free time, I like a good cup of French press, a good book, cooking a good meal with some music, and playing guitar. I say "ri-ditt-doo" when I get excited (points for you if you get the reference). A glass of red wine, a Hefeweizen, or a smooth bourbon is also a welcome treat - even better if enjoyed on a rooftop or by a fire.

Try to throw in the occasional concert, hike, or game of soccer as much as I can. And I do like trying new places to eat - especially if it's something I can't make or a cuisine I haven't had before. Little Serow (best Thai food in the city), El Rinconcito (awesome pupusas), and Thip Khao (Laotian place that is amazing) are some of my recent favorites.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
I've been called the songbird of my generation by people who know me.....

Doing the "The Carlton"; Making a badass salsa (the key is lime zest and cilantro); DJing the shit out of a party; Being a big deal at ping pong.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm easy to have a conversation with and that I like to smirk.

The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
1) Laughter
2) Something to read
3) Music
4) Cheese
5) An ability to get outdoors. You'd be surprised how much a simple walk can realign your day and mood.
6) Good Conversation and open/willing people to have it with.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Who came up with the phrase drunken noodles and better yet, why did all the Thai restaurants decide to just run with it?

I also have an odd desire to write a comedy-drama about life in your 20s/30s. My title so far is called #Undecided.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Being the classiest of classy and drinking boxed red wine (Trader Joes for the win) and eating wheat thins with hummus on the couch.

In all fairness, that is the default if I don't have anything else going on. If there's a planned happy hour, party, or outing I'm game for that too.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I keep waiting for the day where I will wake up and not want a burrito. It hasn't happened.

you're looking for a funny guy who's a bit of a nerd. And if you like to find new music, try cool new foods, and travel (road trips or big trips), I think we will get along splendidly.
