I am intelligent, introspective, and witty.
My Self-Summary
As I get older, I find my character becoming more and more complex.
I can be cynical about the world, but as a high school teacher I
also suffer from incurable idealism. I tend to be shy and reticent
around people that I don’t know, but once I feel comfortable with a
person I may talk endlessly on a variety of subjects. I value my
solitude, but I treasure my friends and their company. I am
socially and politically liberal, but I lean toward economic
conservatism.
First and foremost I’m looking for a friend that I can spend time
with and enjoy talking to. Intelligent conversation is very
important to me, but that doesn’t mean we have to agree on
everything. I think I am open-minded enough to listen to opposing
arguments as long as they are cogent and thoughtful. This doesn’t
mean that I’m opposed to relationships, quite the opposite is true,
but I feel that if two people are friends first, then a
relationship has a real chance to develop and flourish.
What I’m doing with my life
Well like I mentioned I'm currently a high school teacher. I enjoy
my job, but my true dream is to write. To this end, I've been
actively working on completing my first novel and searching for a
publisher. I feel I've been safe for many years and now it's time
to really follow the passions I've always had inside.
I’m really good at
Pretending to be a grumpy, old fart. Just ask my students. LOL! But
little do they know that when I'm at home the suit and tie go in
the closet and the casual, fun loving me comes out.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'd say my sardonic sense of humor.
My roommate says it's the way my eyes light up when I smile. I
think there may be more than OJ in his morning glass. :o)
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Music: Pink Floyd, Led Zepplin, The Beatles, The Doors, Cream.. Hey
what can I say the 60s and 70s rocked!
Movies: Any of the Monty Python flicks. The Lord of the Rings
Trilogy. Turner Classic Movies. Okay look I'm not afraid to admit
that I'm a bit of a geek, but I think it's one of my more endearing
qualities.
Books: Stephen King, Tolstoy, Dostoevsky, Douglas Adams, Heinlein,
Freakonomics, and tons of history and economics based books
Food: Mmm yes, lots of it please! Chinese, Mexican, Italian. I've
recently decided to try new things and have found I really enjoy
sushi. I've also determined that my roommates are good cooks and
this may be a bad thing for my waistline! lol
The six things I could never do without
1. Pink Floyd
2. Monty Python
3. My computer - for writing and the occassional game
4. Camping
5. Good, intelligent conversation
6. My sanity... Oh wait, that ship has sailed!
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Writing
A more carefree existence. I'd love to eventually find a little
house in the country and settle down.
History - Hey I am a teacher afterall.
Where I came from, Where I am, and Where I hope to be.
On a typical Friday night I am
I am usually reading, writing, or laughing and enjoying stimulating
conversation with my roommates and other close friends.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I secretly enjoy watching certain "chick flicks" and old westerns.
You should message me if
You enjoy good conversation and the occassional laugh. If you like
Pink Floyd and the dry, british humor of Monty Python. Or if you're
quirky, fun loving, intelligent, and looking to make a new friend.
