I am sardonic, paradoxical, and labyrinthine.

My Self-Summary

Convoluted rhyme-schemer, alarmingly honest, impractically practical, honorary challenge.

I'm neither simple nor easy, but I find that a small price to pay to know what I'm doing. You?

What I’m doing with my life

Invariably teasing it to a stop and trying to manipulate it forward.

My mood is the biggest factor.

I’m really good at

Convincing people I'm really good at things. :)

...

Oh, in seriousness? Most games (from the mind to video to strategy types), writing inappropriate poetry (I don't know how I got good at this), figuring people out.

This will turn off 90% of the geeks (I see you, beautiful) that come to my page, but I'm also really good with a lot of things people find annoying. Like astrology, card tricks, and thinly-veiled amusement during post-debate silences.

The first things people usually notice about me

I should think I'm the only person who shouldn't answer this question.

If it helps any, when I ask someone why they are following/staring at me (which happens more often than it should), the most common response is, "What? No, I was.. uh. What?"

My best guess is some Plutonian magnetic field or sheer confusion.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Favorite lists are my downfall. I love what I like and pointedly ignore what I dislike. That makes this potential answer both long and impossible.

A fair compromise is to explain, in some way, my preferences in each. Oui?

Books: I'd say a good 70% of the books I read are fiction works that focus on subject matter that ranges from a bit odd to incredibly hard to swallow. This includes books like Lolita (which I found rather tame, actually) and The Story of the Vivian Girls, in What is known as the Realms of the Unreal, of the Glandeco-Angelinnian War Storm, Caused by the Child Slave Rebellion (which is less tame, but much more intriguing).

Film/TV: I tend toward movies that either have subjects I like (I watched A Beautiful Mind simply because mentally unstable men who have a head for numbers are interesting) or have really witty dialogue (Igby Goes Down is an honorable mention, but you can't leave out the originals, such as Monty Python). I'm also obsessed with House (both the show and the character) and Numb3rs (are you seeing the pattern?).

Music: I can appreciate a clever lyricist as much as a skilled musician, and some people manage to be both. In any case, I'm the reality of "I like almost everything", and actually mean it. Some obsessions include Pink Floyd, Elbow, The Decemberists, Morrissey, and Queen. I guess I could admit to preferring male vocalists to female ones. I also just generally prefer males to females at all, actually.

Food: I'm really not a picky eater. I don't tolerate uncooked onion very well, and I'm odd in that I don't use a lot of condiments. I prefer cooking to eating out, but I'm a bit of a hopeless cook and usually need recipes. I just admitted a weakness. Make a note.

The six things I could never do without

Things to dissect (I have preferences, but surprises intrigue me).

My iPod (hopelessly common, but necessary).

Privacy/space (not 24/7.. maybe 5/6 or 24/2).

Some imaginative expression (D&D, photography, eye contact, I'm open).

A computer, if we're talking non-desert island scenario (otherwise, that would be a wasted item).

Graph paper (this is how I plot most of my plans).

I spend a lot of time thinking about

The way people behave and why. This makes other people nervous because I'm the type who finds compulsive liars as fascinating as hopeless romantics.

I also think too much about scientists. If you can keep a secret, I think I have a fetish developing for them.

On a typical Friday night I am

Not even aware that it's Friday. I don't have a typical job, or even sleep schedule, and have no reason to care about the day's title.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

Oh, you'll have to try harder than that, mon ami(e).

You should message me if

You weren't intimidated before reaching this point.

You're intelligent (academic counts in a major way, but you'll need a personality with it) and/or we seem to have things in common.

You either don't mind private women or want to test your sleuthing skills.
