My self-summary
I realized that I should update my profile. I'm not checking OKC very often right now. I'm going through some significant professional and personal transitions, and I don't think dating is a priority.

But I want to keep my mind and heart open, so I'm keeping the profile up.
What I’m doing with my life
Very busy with about 10 projects and work travel. It's sort of a personal reinvention period. I'm learning a lot about the world and myself, so it's a good time, if challenging.

When I'm home, I'm loving my new place in Pioneer Square; my deck has views of Elliott Bay, downtown and the stadiums. Other than that, I'm trying to stay healthy and savor time with friends outside of work contexts.
I’m really good at
listening & learning. keeping plants and animals alive. amusing babies and small children, sometimes even adults. nesting. traveling. solving problems. making problems.
The first things people usually notice about me
I talk a lot when meeting new people. It's because I'm nervous, but it's usually mistaken for being a confident, social animal.

Also, probably my complexion. I'm very fair, and my hair is an unusual "strawberry blonde" color. I'm not terribly fond of the phrase "strawberry blonde," despite enjoying strawberries and blondes. I have blue eyes.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: I used to be very bookish, but now I read for work mostly. Which means I read mostly online. When it's a book, it's usually non-fiction examining current affairs, technology trends or organizational theory and leadership. The last great book I finished was The Foundation: A Great American Secret by Joel L. Fleishman. I've been slowly working my way through Stephenson's Baroque Cycle, which is a lot of fun when I turn to it.

Movies: I love them - good ones, bad ones. Favorites include Happy Endings, Fight Club, Waiting for Guffman, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. I love great (and sometimes mediocre) sci-fi: Blade Runner, Brazil, Alien. Most recent film I've seen in the theater: The Muppets, which was nearly perfect except for the Moopets component, which seemed tinged with some unfortunate racial subtext.

On the iPod: Active Child, Air, Amy Winehouse, Animal Collective, The Apples in Stereo, The Arcade Fire, Asobi Seksu, Astral, Austra, Beach House, Blonde Redhead, Blur, Bow Wow Wow, Brian Eno, Broken Bells, Broken Social Scene, Bryan Ferry, Caribou, CEO, Corpus Callosum, The Cure, Cut Copy, Daft Punk, David Byrne & Brian Eno, Death Cab for Cutie, Echo & the Bunnymen, Electralane, The Fall, Fleet Foxes, Florence & the Machine, Ghostland Observatory, Girl Talk, Goldfrapp, Gorillaz, The Gossip, Hot Chip, Iggy Pop, INXS, Islands, Joanna Newsom, John Vanderslice, Joy Division, The Killers, Kinski, The Knife, Kraftwerk, Ladytron, Leonard Cohen, Lou Reed, The Magnetic Fields, Menomena, MGMT, New Order, The New Pornographers, The Notwist, Of Montreal, Yoko Ono, Owen Pallett, P.J. Harvey, Panda Bear, Phoenix, The Radio Department, Radiohead, The Shins, Spoon, Tears for Fears, These New Puritans, Viva Voce, Williamson, The XX. Seems like all that's missing to represent my major musical faves are The Beatles, Elliot Smith, Rufus Wainwright and Nick Drake.

Food: I love to cook, I love to eat, I love restaurants. I was a vegetarian for 8 years, now exploring a wider palate. Favorites include Thai, French, American Southern, almost any seafood. I'll eat anything except for an oddball mix of distastes: sushi (don't like nori or raw fish, so I'm screwed in this category), oysters, cucumbers (it's a texture thing - the taste I love - cucumber vodka martinis = yum).
The six things I could never do without
The internet, art, friends and colleagues who challenge me, great food, sunscreen, and hope.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
social and technological change, the mechanics of power, art and design, friendship, legacy, ice cream.
On a typical Friday night I am
kicking myself for not making plans with friends earlier. or crashing after a long week. or choosing between too many options.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
This is a weird question. "Admission" signifies guilt. And "private" signifies definitely-not-going-to-list-this-on-the-web.
I’m looking for
  • Guys who like guys
  • Ages 25–36
  • Near me
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating, activity partners
You should message me if
The phrase "renaissance man" resonates with you. I'm not saying I am one. But maybe you are. I'd like to meet one.

Message me if you think we could be friends and that's all. I'm definitely looking for more friends, especially gay ones.

Or message me if you think there could be something more.
