I am ridiculous, imaginative, and passionate.

My Self-Summary

I guess i will start off by saying that i am the type of guy who occasionally attempts to describe myself using a hundred words or more, so that others may acquire a somewhat accurate idea of who i think that i am. I'm not sure that i've ever been successful. A common thought i'm sure.

Although i cannot see any reason why i shouldn't be, i'm not usually described as being typical. That being said, there are countless things about most of us which are entire typical, like all snowflakes being made of water. Anyway...

I am a musician, an artist, and a teacher.
Like so many others, i love my family and friends, camping, a nice bottle of wine, driving to little towns, checking out old buildings and second hand book stores, road trips, sleeping on crown land, being ridiculous, good films, hiking, reading and writing, being surprised, cooking for others, playing with my cat, wild blueberries, being confused, dreaming about some ideal future, being realistic, listening, frisbee, climbing trees, playing marbles, sneezing, answering/asking questions, homemade soup, video games, comparing apples to oranges, and so many other things which i could list to the point of exhaustion. Yes it's true, most of us enjoy living, and with good reason.

Beyond this i suppose i can say that i have an unsatisfiable thirst for knowledge, which at times is very unspecific. I'm not sure that i have ever really experienced boredom. I spend most days, while usually satisfied, aspiring to be more in some way. That could be intellectually, artistically, emotionally, spiritually, or physically. I don't want to be just another day older.

What I’m doing with my life

I'm doing my best to put my passion, which in part lead to a university degree, to good use. I teach music in all of its variety and craziness. I am also currently playing with various musicians in the area. I take my career seriously, but i rarely describe it as work. Even when it really is work.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Music:arcade fire, air, andrew bird, blonde redhead, beirut, the books, brian eno, cat power, final fantasy, broken social scene, aminal collective, grizzly bear, low, magnetic fields, the microphones, mount eerie, mirah, mountain goats, mum, neutral milk hotel, of montreal, pavement, radiohead, silt, smog, sonic youth, spoon, tom waits, tortoise, yo la tengo etc. (yes, i was looking at my itunes playlist when i wrote this! :P)

The six things I could never do without

my mind, heart, lungs, and ears.
