I'm a nerd-type who loves to argue and try new things (within my ironically narrow comfort limits). Before college, I really didn't do much besides sit in front of the computer all day, but I've happily put a stop to that. I'm recently into cooking, coffee (snobbery), cycling, rock climbing, hiking, and men's dress fashion, though I'm often looking at the scientific side of things. I just graduated with a B.A. in Chemistry and for the moment, living in Portland.

Don't let the physical activities fool you; I also really love to just lounge and watch good shows, like Venture Bros, The West Wing, and Star Trek, just to name a few.

I'm essentially a sheltered child beginning to explore the world. I am fiercely independent of my parents and tend to be very close with my friends. I have a lot to learn about my new interests; I'm quite a novice with all of them.

I place a fair amount on relationships - I'm generally a long-term kinda guy. I *frequently* know exactly what I want and this *frequently* scares people. I'm not saying I'm ready to settle down or anything close to that, but I'm looking for someone with the huevos to stick around and take things seriously. SRSLY. At the same time, I'm strongly independent and appreciate upfront communication.

By the way, the dating persona quiz is totally off for me. I've never been so disappointed with a free algorithm before.

I have a job and a house, which is good enough for me right now. I just graduated from Reed College and I'm planning on going to grad school within a year or two. I can't be stagnant, now can I?

video games and tv show references. I learn fairly quickly too. One friend tells me I'm very outgoing. The other says I'm shy and introverted. What the hell?

(A) The Golden Compass, The Subtle Knife, Eyes of Crow, Pride and Prejudice, The Amber Spyglass, Dead Souls, though I've been rather lax lately about pleasure reading.

(B) I like a lot of movies, but I'm not really particularly fond of any. Generally they have a high love story factor (like Before Sunrise), a high explosions factor (like X-Men), or a high thought factor (like The Fountain). There's still a soft spot in my heart for movies like Clueless. I refuse to watch gorey movies (like... well, I haven't seen any in years. Saw?). Sorry gore-fans.

(C) Daft Punk, Emilie Simon, Franz Ferdinand, Feist, The Bangles, Cake, Weezer, Ratatat, Etta James and a fairly wide variety of other stuff.

(D) I love mexican food and most other spicy food. I can do the fast food thing once in a while, but now I'm hyper-conscious of food additives. I love to make my own meals from raw (usually) "organic" ingredients.

Planning life right now. Deciding what to do and all that. I like to imagine where my life would go if certain contingencies were met. Call it useful daydreaming.

with friends, in one way or another. I quit playing World of Warcraft a few months ago, so now I'm getting used to being a functioning, social, normal human being again. I'll often watch movies/tv shows with friends or go out to a bar.

Though with my current work schedule, I'll probably be sleeping on Friday nights. How's Saturday sound?
