My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Howyadoin'. I'm an art teacher and illustrator based in West Philly. I draw comics and things on the side and try to stay busy. I've been in the city since '04.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I've been lucky enough to meet a pretty great crew o' chums here in Philly. I waste a lot of time with these folks biking around, wandering aimlessly through the city, drinkin' in our homes or some establishment somewhere; general but enjoyable buffoonery.

I've played music in various groups since I was a whiny teen. The situations haven't changed much, but somehow I keep coming back to it.

I can't seem to keep my grubby paws out of trying virtually all corners of the arts. There are times when I try to juggle being involved in local painting shows, writing and illustrating a weekly webcomic, playing tunes at a bar every once in a while, and recently I've even let myself get talked into the time-consuming and stressful madness of community theater. I have to kick myself once in a while for piling far too much on my plate, but I'm excitable when it comes to these activities.

Philadelphia is grungy, its schools are failing its poorest youth (a scenario that is but a small sampling of the whole nation's state of education), there is enough violence to bother ya a little bit, and the tallest portion of our skyline has a sort of 80s/Wall Street look to it. But this is a thrilling place to live, and each year I've stayed here I'm more and more surprised and intrigued by its history, its activities, and all the hoods.

BOOKS: My favorite author is fellow Pennsylvanian John Updike. Beyond that I very much enjoy Michael Chabon, Saul Bellow, Don Delillo, Lorrie Moore, Philip Roth, Raymond Carver, Cynthia Ozick, David Foster Wallace, Daniel Clowes, Harry Crews, and Alan Watts. MOVIES: Coens, Hal Hartley, P.T. Anderson, Charlie Kaufman, John Cassavetes, Malick, Payne, Woody Allen. MUSIC: Bill Callahan or Smog, Lower Dens or Jana Hunter, Arthur Russell, The Carter Family, Dirty Beaches, Miracle Legion, The Replacements, Lou Christie, Galaxie 500, Ween, Van Morrison, Blonde Redhead, Jonathan Richman, Mulatu Astatke, Guided By Voices. FOOD: It's great to be in a city with such a wide variety. Can't pick a favorite, but I really like sautéed mushrooms in almost all savory meals...
