My self-summary
A brief overview of me: I'm a big fan of meeting people with interesting backgrounds & adventures to share; trying out distinctive or fun restaurants
& lounges; watching random movies from Netflix; hanging out with friends (a totally original interest, I know); cooking; & being outdoors enjoying the weather or getting some good exercise in.

Recently did my first Mud Run with a friend of mine, and am so glad we did--good times! Made even more memorable by the fact that we only decided the day beforehand to do it. So now I'm getting interested in doing the Rugged Maniac (yet at the same time also terrified, because the obstacles in it seem a fair bit more hardcore than those in my 1st mud run).

I love to travel (what can I say, I'm all for "novel" hobbies)--would love to get back to Australia, as well as to some new places, like Lake Baikal or Madagascar. But heck, I'm not saying I would turn down a trip to any of the US National Parks either.

In this neck of the woods, some favorite places are Bartley's, Living Room, Sabur, Martsa on Elm, Plough & Stars, Harvard Book Store, Sligo (I like the low-key, dive-y vibe), Lolita, and my cozy back porch in the summertime.

Some fave things: the Adirondacks, Portlandia, Flight of the Conchords (RIP) & Dexter (altho regrettably Dex is going rapidly downhill). The New York Times Sunday edition, Blue Moon beer, St. Germain cocktails, bargain-hunting, Japanese Maple & Copper Beech trees, dahlias (the bigger the better), foliage, dogs, and lastly (phew) the beaches, sights & sounds of North Shore MA.
What I’m doing with my life
>Working in public health research, specifically on 2 nutrition studies. Very interesting stuff so far!
>Thinking more about what I ultimately envision career-wise. Looks like this will involve yet more graduate school---yikes! (update: headed to nurse practitioner school next Spring)
I’m really good at
Pop culture trivia. I have a useless store of knowledge, mostly of the movie/TV, music & celebrity variety. It often comes in handy during Trivial Pursuit or trivia night, but not otherwise ha. I've also had mostly very good feedback on my cooking.
The first things people usually notice about me
Hmmm--I'd go with being left-handed or having curly hair
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Authors: Tom Perotta, Dennis Lehane, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Nikolai Gogol, James Ellroy, W. Somerset Maughm, Ian McEwan, Philip Roth, Steve Martin, Sue Miller, Jhumpa Lahiri, Nadine Gordimer, Ian Rankin, Cormac McCarthy, Julia Alvarez, Jeffrey Eugenides, Joyce Carol Oates, Arnaldur Indridason (Icelandic mystery writer).

Movies: Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Black Swan, Charlie Bartlett, Tell No One, Raising Victor Vargas, Juno, No Country for Old Men, House of Sand & Fog, Babel, Once, Golden Door, Strangers with Candy, Twelve and Holding, Brokeback Mountain, Laurel Canyon, Lovely & Amazing, Last Days of Disco, LA Confidential, The Hours, Short Cuts, Elf, Dodgeball, Blades of Glory, Manhattan, Year of the Dog, Office Space, The Cider House Rules, The Grinch (Jim Carrey version--don't know why I find this so entertaining, as it's really kind of lame-haha), etc. etc.

Shows: Other than what I've mentioned, also love Extras & The Critic. Lately have been enjoying Always Sunny too. My roommate & I had a great time watching House of Lies last winter- a definite guilty pleasure.

Music: Jeff Buckley, Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, Chuck Berry, Tori Amos, Morphine, G. Love & Special Sauce, Jelly Roll Morton, Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, Nina Simone, Dinosaur Jr,, Bloc Party,Ramones, Beth Orton, Arcade Fire, Okkervil River, Stars, Massive Attack, Portishead, Rilo Kiley, Modest Mouse, Gorillaz, Passion Pit, Squirrel Nut Zippers, Belly, Toad the Wet Sprocket, Nick Drake, Ben Kweller, Bright Eyes/Connor Oberst, Brandi Carlile, Neil Young, Bob Dylan, Regina Spektor, random '80s and '90s one hit wonders---pretty much anything apart from country and metal

Food: chocolate, Manchego cheese, fun/inspired vegetarian food, pasta w/ seafood (such as Fra Diavolo). Flavored seltzer (esp Polar)!
The six things I could never do without
Random order: 1. Fabulous family & friends 2. Good music & movies 3. Seltzer!
4. A purpose in life 5. A good book 6. The four seasons (of weather)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Kitten Mittens.
Also, what new recipes to try out; whether there are any new titles to add to my Netflix queue
On a typical Friday night I am
catching a movie, hanging out with friends at a good bar or lounge
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I can't stand watching those commercials on tv depicting animal cruelty (for the Humane Society, etc). They provoke such a visceral reaction in me--I always rush to change the channel asap.

Also, what's up with the polyamorous presence on here? Seems a curious thing, since before I came on here I had no idea that said relationship preference had such an apparent stronghold in contemporary American society (outside of the old-school Mormon version, that is). Not trying to be a hater or anything, but it's hard to begin to think of drinking the Kool Aid on this.....why marry/have an LTR in 1st place if you're not into commitment? Seems like just an excuse for having your cake & eating it too. QED
I’m looking for
  • Guys who like girls
  • Ages 24–38
  • Near me
  • Who are single
  • For long-term dating, short-term dating
You should message me if
Surprise me.....
One thing though: if you're gonna message me, your current romantic aspirations should veer more towards the LTR persuasion than the casual sex one--for reals.
