I moved to Madison in May from outside of Chicago for a wildlife rehabilitation internship and I now work as a medical laboratory technician at the UW veterinary medical teaching hospital. Yay income!

I'm constantly reading about psychology, pop culture, spirituality/buddhism, philosphy, eco/green living, LGBT and gender studies, veganism, science, the environment, and the modern human experience. I like to be knowledgeable.

I love people-watching, Rufus Wainwright's charming pomposity, storms, inanimate objects having human qualities, being in the present moment, playing the piano, Vans Slip-ons, Postsecret, making lists, names, bookstores and laughing till my face hurts/till I cry (which happens a lot when playing Apples to Apples).

My internship is the best part of my life right now. We take in injured and orphaned wildlife, including songbirds, raptors, mammals and waterfowl. Every day is different, sometimes easy, sometimes challenging or heartbreaking. Crows, owls, cedar waxwings, blue jays, gnatcatchers and killdeer are my faves. I also fell in love with a baby turkey we rehabbed this season.

I started working in the clincial pathology lab at the UW vet school in August. This is the first time I've ever rode my bike to work as a main form of transportation. My muscles are screaming.

The last few years have been really about recreating myself and trying to figure out who I am, what I believe in and where I'm going. I'm still struggling to find meaning.

I have a veiled chemeleon named Naadhira and four rats, Ferraby, Rufus, Sebastian and Jasper.

Watching youtube videos, killing time, being organized, making stop-motion animated videos, obsessing over music, playing the oboe, sleeping too much or not enough, taking care of wildlife, spending too much money on groceries, making collages, and running out of quarters for laundry.

I have no idea. Please let me know. I'm curious.

I mostly read short stories, non-fiction, science and art magazines, memoirs, poetry, psychology books, LGBT/gender studies books, zines, YA fiction and whatever's in the break room at work. I tend to have "reading ADD" where I start many books, but never finish them. Right now I'm working on Prozac Nation by Elizabeth Wurtzel and The Elegance of the Hedgehog by Muriel Barbery. I'm also in love with Harry Potter. I thought you should know that.

Some of my favorite movies are About a Boy, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Harry Potter, Juno, Little Miss Sunshine, Milk, Mysterious Skin, Office Space, Running With Scissors, Shelter, Sommersturm, Stand By Me, and Wall-E. I like just about everything from serious documentaries to ridiculous comedies.

I love finding new artists on iTunes. I'm into indie, rock, alternative, world, dance, folk, ambient, electronic, pop and film scores.
Right now I'm listening to Metric, Cloud Cult, Kate Havnevik, Tilly and the Wall, Ra Ra Riot, Butterfly Boucher, Imogen Heap, The Perishers, Death Cab for Cutie, Mute Math, Owl City, and Jump Little Children. I have a crush on Rufus Wainwright's personality (and his music too).

I'm vegan and I like Asian stir fries and noodles, soy ice cream, dried mangoes and Clif bars.

You will probably find me hanging out with my roommates, reading a book, working on a project, watching a movie, baking vegan cookies, being lazy or working at the wildlife center. I may also be playing the Sims 2 on my computer. I LOVE making gay Sims.

I still sleep with a teddy bear. Her name is Rainbow and she is 25-years-old too.
