I am shy, creative, and passionate.

My Self-Summary

I'm happily addicted to coffee. I love reading, writing, photography, knitting, and Jesus.

What I’m doing with my life

I'm a college student hoping to graduate in December 2009. I want to be done with school. I work part time in the staffing office of a hospital, and my goal is to be self-employed within the next two years...I want to write, start my own publishing business, and maybe open a gluten-free coffee shop, among other things.

Ok, so that was all written in what, May of 2009? It's now November, and some things have changed. I'm still a college student, but I'm at a different school with a different major and am now hoping to be done with school in December 2010. I still want to be done, but I'm happier where I am now than where I was before. I still work part time as a hospital staffer, and while I don't want to be there forever, I'm less eager to get away...I like having a job where I can actually get benefits, even if I don't love the job itself. I have been writing, and as of October I actually launched my little publishing business. The first book is done. It's kind of surreal and I'm not sure I believe it's happening.

I’m really good at

I've been told I have a talent for writing, and apparently I give good backrubs. Really though, I love listening to people, and I give awesome hugs.

The first things people usually notice about me

I don't know that there's a whole lot that particularly stands out about me, but for some reason people seem to immediately trust me. It's occasionally unnerving, but for the most part I love listening to people's stories, so it's pretty cool. If people DON'T immediately trust me, they're terrified of me. I don't know why this is, except that I sometimes glare at nothing in particular if I'm having a bad day.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: I love just about anything by C.S. Lewis (although I haven't read everything he's written...I'll get there eventually). I adore a good fantasy novel, but I'm REALLY picky about what actually constitutes "good" in any genre. I like a lot of classics, too...Austen, Bronte, Shakespeare, Dickens...the list goes on. One of my favorite books of all time is "The Princess Bride." I have the beginnings of my own library, and I love it.

Movies: I hate horror movies. I'm not a huge fan of chick flicks most days, but I have my moments. I adore Audrey Hepburn (and I don't count her movies as chick flicks...she was in a class all her own, I think), and "Breakfast at Tiffany's" is close to the top of my list of favorites. Also near the top of the list is "The Princess Bride." (There may be a theme going here.) I generally like action movies, superhero movies, fantasy/sci-fi, and musicals. Random, I know...but if you know me, it fits.

Music: I have really eclectic taste in music. I tend to listen to an album obsessively for a month or two, then switch to something else, but I always like finding new music or returning to old favorites.

Food: I love food. I found out in April 2008 that I'm gluten intolerant, so that's been interesting. I LOVE pasta (GF, of course), and I love meat. I'm also a coffee snob and I drink a lot of tea.

The six things I could never do without

1. Jesus. No, I'm not a scary Christian. I won't beat you over the head with a Bible. (Hell, I swear all the time, and I'm more often attracted to women than I am to men. I don't exactly fit the stereotype.) But my faith is really important to me. I firmly believe that I've only survived this long by God's grace alone; had it not been for my belief in Christ, I would probably have given up years ago. As it is, life is hard, but I can get up every day because I have some sort of purpose. (Getting off my soapbox now...)
2. Coffee. I'm a total coffee snob. And I'm seriously addicted.
3. Books. I can't seem to stop buying them.
4. Art. Photography is particularly near and dear to my heart.
5. My incredible friends. I have no idea why they put up with me, but they do, and they rock.
6. My family. They love me even though they don't understand me.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

There are a lot of stories running through my head. Someday I hope to get more of them written down.

The vast majority of the time I find myself lost in some sort of daydream.

On a typical Friday night I am

Depends on the week. If I'm not at work, though, I'm usually at home reading or watching movies. Either that, or I'm spending time with one or two friends. I'm pretty introverted and laid back.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

Coming from a very conservative background, I denied my sexuality for a LOOOONG time. I feel much better about myself now that I've accepted the fact that I'm attracted to PEOPLE, not a particular set of genetalia. :P Life makes a lot more sense. And of the few friends I've come out to, not one of them has been surprised. I was unexpectedly forced to come out to my parents not long ago. They're pretending it didn't happen. I wasn't planning on having that conversation for awhile, so I'm ok with giving them time to process for now.

You should message me if

-- you're intelligent and able to express yourself well. Excessive grammatical incompetence annoys me.
-- you're looking for someone to talk to.
-- you're crazy enough to think I sound like an interesting person.

You should NOT message me if
-- you're old enough to be my parent. That's just creepy.
-- you're looking for someone to join you in a threesome. I don't necessarily have anything against polyamory, it's just not my thing.
-- you just want to get laid. Not happening. Sorry.

I'm not entirely sure why I'm on this site, but...there you have it.
