I am introspective, abstract, and inspired.

My Self-Summary

I like to explore new places, and love to find excuses to go on roadtrips. There are tons of nifty places within a day's drive from Point A. I think it's a shame that so many people get locked into a routine of staying at home/work and never branching out. Conversely, I'm also a big fan of the occasional evening at home, watching movies, listening to music, or finally getting through a recently acquired novel (I'm a fool for well written fiction, and the occasional biography - especially music bios). On a typical night out, I'm either going to a Midnight Movie at the Inwood (gotta love that new seating lounge), singing karaoke (it's cheesy, but fun), hanging at a friends house, writing lyrics with my band buddy, or reading scripts while people watching at all kinds of places hidden around Dallas.

I work retail in Dallas, selling used books in a massive bookstore. It's not glamorous, but it pays the bills, and it's paying my way through school. I'm getting a Theatre/English degree with an eye towards teaching, but what I'd love to do more than anything in the world is act and make a living doing it. I am also currently polishing a stand up act for a very amateur debut very soon. It's a long process to hone an act, but I'm ready to embarass myself if it may one day mean I'm making money making people laugh.

I'm definitely what you would call an extrovert. I have no problem meeting new people, and I can carry a conversation with just about anyone. I am a constantly changing individual, due to the roles I get to play- or just because I wanted to try something new. I love changing a whole look overnight, and then changing it back weeks later.

As far as entertainment goes, I love all kinds of music, and am often attached to my iPod. Everything from The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix and Donovan to Perfect Circle, Bright Eyes, The Flaming Lips, Glen Hansard, M. Ward, Ray LaMontagne, Love, Dead Weather and Blind Willie McTell. I listen to all kinds of stuff, and would like to talk music with just about anyone. I also write lyrics with a local band, with hopes to get an EP out this year. As far as movies, go, I watch a lot of indie stuff, comedies, sci-fi, old classics, Disney, and almost anything really. Lately, I've been watching Westerns. The old Sergio leone ones with Clint Eastwood. My favorite movie is Lawrence of Arabia. Man on the Moon would be #2. I'm usually down to watch anything once, and am chick flick friendly.

I thnink as far as life in general goes, I am very happy with my late 20's. I'm old enough to have learned a lot in my travels, and young enough to put my knowledge to use. I'm taking better care of myself now then I have in the past, and am currently busting ass to shape up for a better position in the acting pool. Seth Rogen gets all the lovable scruffy chubby guy roles, and hollywood only has room for one. We're like the Highlander.

I'm not really here to just hook up, and I'm not here to necessarily find a soulmate either. What I'd prefer in such matters is to get to know someone before really deciding such things. If that sounds like your kind of deal, send me a message.

I also chat on AIM under the name Retrobandit. I also have a phone number, but you'll have to get that with a message.

What I’m doing with my life

I spend five days a week selling books here in Dallas. (YAY for reading!) I'm writing a novel, and working on a stand up act so I dpoend a lot of time typing. Lately, I've joined a local band, mostly in a songwriting capacity, and it has been exciting to piece together new songs (kind of like Bright Eyes meets M. Ward... mellow new folk roots music.)

I really strive to find a way to succeed through creativity, so my path is multibranching and not always straight and narrow. I am also going back to school- knowing that dreams don't always come true, and that a fallback plan is a good thing.

I’m really good at

Remembering trivial things. I was once almost a quiz show contestant, but the show (21 with Maury Povich) was cancelled before I was scheduled to fly out to compete.

The first things people usually notice about me

I'm tall - 6'5" to be exact, which is just tall enough to bump my head on half the crap hanging from ceilings the world over.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Movies: My favorite of all time is Lawrence of Arabia. I love all kinds of movies, though. I love old movies, especially anything with Audrey Hepburn or Cary Grant. As for the newer stuff, I was quite fond of Children of Men, There Will Be Blodd, The Dark Knight, Timecimes, Star Trek, and I am always finding new masterpieces. I like foreign film, especially Amelie , Run Lola Run, The Edukators, and Goodbye, Lenin!. To be completely honest, a movie paragraph could go on forever.

Music: I don't really listen to the radio, so most of the stuff I listen to is made up of the things I have found. I love The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Nick Drake, The Flaming Lips, Bright Eyes, Nick Cave, Jimi Hendrix and so much more, including hundreds of lesser known indie bands and forgotten relics. I go to a lot of music festivals and concerts, so I'm always adding to my long list of faves.

Books: I read a lot... sometimes three books a week. I like 1984 by George Orwell, The Stand by Stephen King, anything by Christopher Moore or Kurt Vonnegut (one of my major heroes), The Road by Cormac McCarthy and so many more. I work at a bookstore... that should tell you something.

Food: I try not to put such an emphasis on what I eat anymore, and currently strive to become more utilitarian in my nutrition as to improve my overall health... i do love international cuisine though.

The six things I could never do without

1. Other People
2. Written language
3. A satchel of my favorite books... 1984, The Little Prince, Alas Babylon, and Slaughterhouse Five.
4. Pillows (They're squishy)
5. The occasional rainy night.
6. My iPod ! ...120 gig and almost completely full of music.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Absolutely everything. I ponder big questions, little questions, and questions of no consequence frequently.

I think about the spaces that exist in between all of us, and the many different ways we manipulate it. I think about the people I know, and all the gaps i would have to fill in if I were to write them as a character. I think about the motivations behind actions.

I think about the near future quite a bit, and often think about upcoming adventures to the point of spacing out during regular daily life. Daydreaming, as it were.

On a typical Friday night I am

Working til 11:30.

I know- it sucks, but this is how the world works.

On my off nights, though, I like to go to live shows here in Dallas. (The Good Records 10 year anniversary show was a recent treat). I also enjoy going to the movies, visiting a local karaoke night, or just going on a long walk around the neighborhood.

I'm always up for new things, though, and am not hard to pull into new situations.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

Somehow, I want to make it to both the Moon and Antarctica before I die.

You should message me if

you want to, or you aren't one of those girls who thinks it's worng to make the first move.
