I am caring, hugable, and loving.
My Self-Summary
Came to Boulder for graduate school at Naropa University. Been here
now for 5 years. Not sure if I am staying or moving. In a bit of
transition period in my life where I am unwilling to settle for the
comfortable but meaningless life. I have done that before and it is
a killer! Now looking for the next jumping off point and I would
like someone to share life's adventures with, while creating a
joyful and meaningful life.
I moved here from Austin, TX. Miss the warm weather! Even though I
grew up in KS, lived in AR, OH, RI, IL, and CO, I claim Texas as my
home state. Love the ocean, even the muddy TX ocean water.
I am an eclectic religiously with bits of
Pagan,
Buddhist and
Hindu practices/philosophies. I do not
participate in any organized religion but find my source in
everything around me. I don't preach to others and don't want to
preached to. I love deep discussions on the matter, though.
What I’m doing with my life
I have a Masters in Counseling and a Masters of Divinity. I teach
Applied Theology in a Multicultural Context in the Masters of
Divinity program and Diversity Awareness/Multicultural Competencies
in the Contemplative Psychotherapy Masters program and work in the
registrars office at Naropa University. I also teach other classes
in the fall. I want to get out and do more, make more of a
difference... Not sure what form that will take.
I love to write and write a lot, especially free verse poetry. I
paint abstract acrylic paintings in my spare time. And, I am
getting back into photography.
So, what am I doing with my life? Living it, living it well, and I
want to continue to live it well, and strive for creating
situations where all can live well.
I’m really good at
Hearing and understanding. Listening to my intuition. Being
forthright.
The first things people usually notice about me
My eyes. They are usually blue but when I am feeling happy or
mischievous they are green, everything from grey-green to
grass-green. I also have a shaved head, which is quite noticeable.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Books: Sister Outsider, Decolonizing Methodologies, Tales of Adam,
The Prophetic Imagination, Old Path-White Clouds, anything by
Joanna Macy,...
Movies: LOTR, Longtime Companion, Harry Potter, Star Wars, The
Spirit, Across the Universe
Music: Everything. I have over 80gig on my hard drive, everything
from Johnny Cash, Queen, Tool, Alirio Diaz, Nina Simone, Clannad,
Plain White T's, Beausoleil, Beyoncé, OutKast, and on and
on...
Food: Partial to Tex-Mex, Indian, Tibetan, Japanese, and Americana,
especially pizza, wings, burgers, fries...
The six things I could never do without
currently, it would be hard to live without:
1) gravity,
2) the five elements of earth, air, water, fire, and space,
3) family and friends,
4) creatures of earth and sky,
5) universal life force,
6) brilliant sunrises and sunsets.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How we humans treat each other and the world that we are a minute
part. Ways to reach people and help them do inner and outer work.
Materials to use and ways of being in the diversity seminars and
classes I teach.
On a typical Friday night I am
Stargate Atlantis, Sanctuary, Dr. Who or some such thing. It is my
wind down night from a week of work and a time to relax.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I am a reserved extrovert. I am willing to share most everything
with the right person.
You should message me if
you want to.
