My self-summary
Displaced Pennsylvanian. I originally came to Tucson thinking I would be here for a few months and be chased away by the heat, but it looks like I was wrong about everything.

I tend to be a homebody but I can be pretty adventurous with other people, though I still love nothing more than hanging out, talking, and joking around. I like collecting records, ice hockey, architecture, the Cold War, sad novels, and the 1980s.
What I’m doing with my life
Being an archivist.
I’m really good at
Providing detailed opinions on obscure bands at nobody's request. Imagining writing films, novels, and music and never doing it.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books:
I find it really hard to choose favorite authors, so here's who's currently on my book shelf (I sold, gave away, or otherwise left behind almost all of my books before moving out here):
Margaret Atwood, Ed Willes, Gail Dines, Irvine Welsh (x2), Jincy Willet, Willa Cather (x2), James Ellroy, Evelyn Waugh, Flannery O'Connor, Carson McCullers

Movies:
I don't really have any particular favorites, but I like B movies, older action films and westerns, absurd comedies, tragedies...almost anything. I probably watch Mystery Science Theater 3000 more than actual movies.

Shows:
30 Rock, Arrested Development, Community, The Kids in the Hall, Law and Order (am I the only person who thinks Criminal Intent is the best one?) Parks and Recreation, Seinfeld. Occasionally sports (mostly hockey).

Music:
Music is my obsession. I think it's kind of impossible to concisely describe my taste. I'm kind of biased towards things from the mid '70s to mid '90s. I like making up genres. I have a pretty large record collection and spend a good amount of time and money with and adding to it.
The six things I could never do without
Music in physical formats, family, brooding silences, the internet, elaborate fantasy, wistful introspection/pleasing melancholy.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Ethics/morality/politics. The possibility of re-examining religion out of dissatisfaction with the politics of organized atheism. How to enjoy music more efficiently and authentically. How to present myself as unique and interesting without sounding like I'm trying too hard.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I coined the phrase, "Pardon my French."
