My self-summary
Ok, I've been working in Hillsboro since April, it is now the middle of July and when this job is over I'm ginoing back to Southern Oregon. Might be a.other year, mmaybe more, maybe less. So, whoever may respond to this should know that I won't be remaining in this area. I've planted my flag in the Medford area. Having said all that, I can't really summarize myself in a couple of paragraphs. I've been clean and sober for 23 yrs. now. The experience of getting into and remaining in recovery has brought me closer to God and greatly expanded my perspective on life and spirituality. I now believe we are spritual beings on a human journey, rather than human beings on a spiritual journey. I believe helping others is good for my soul. Jesus once said the best of you should serve the least of you, and I try to remember that, and act on that everyday. the opportunity to help others presents itself many times a day, and I try to take advantage of them. While on a jobsite I treat the lowest laborer with the same courtesy and respect I treat the Superintendent. I remember the minimum wage worker who serves my my morning coffee is working for his or her money and deserves my respect. I tip well and try not to be a demanding customer and I say thank you often, because I appreciate all random acts of kindness shown me. After answering a bunch of questions I find it interesting my personality profile indicates I'm more sex driven than love driven. I don't agree with that assessment, at all. While I don't deny loving sex, I am more interested in finding the love of my life. The last love of my life. I'm looking for my last first date.
What I’m doing with my life
Enjoying it as much as possible. I work when I have to, and play when I can. I plan on working at least a couple more years before I retire, which will be in Oregon somewhere where the fishing and camping is good. I do volunteer work with Veterans groups and am a member of the Southern Oregon Veterans Consumer Council.
I’m really good at
Having fun, and finding ways to have fun when stuck doing boring, but necessary tasks. I'm pretty good at reading people, but then almost everyone claims that. I'm good at my job, but I'm better when I'm off the job. I'm good at research and can almost always track down whoever or whatever I'm after. I'm a good cook, but seldom get fancy just for myself.
The first things people usually notice about me
I really don't know. I've been told my eyes, but I just don't know.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I read alot, at least a book or 2 a week. Over the years I've read some classics...Hugo, Defore, Dressler, Dumas, Stienbeck, London, Melville, Hemingway, Twain... lately I tend to read alot of John Sanford, Dean Koontz, Dale Brown, Michael Connely, Brian Haig ( bubble gum for the brain, I know) and also alot of nonfiction and American history, particularly the civil war. " A river runs thru it" is one of my favorite movies. Music...lately I've been listening to alot of old Folk Music...The Chad Mitchell Trio, Carol King, but I also like old school rock, some country. even more recently jazz and blues have started to sound good to me. I tend to have phases. Country sounds good for awhile, then it will be easy listening, then maybe classic rock. If you looked at my CD collection you would probably think it is several different peoples, all thrown together. I eat most everything with a few exceptions, curry being one of them. I like to cook and BBQ, make a great chicken stew and casole'
The six things I could never do without
Besides the obvious life sustaining needs I would say my optimism for the future, other people, my ability to work, have fun, coffee, books, an occasional morning on a river with a fly rod in hand
I spend a lot of time thinking about
I don't obsess about anything. I think about alot of different things, and then focus on what ever sparks my interest.
On a typical Friday night I am
Either at home relaxing or heading out of town for the weekend. friday night or maybe saturday would be the night I prepare a fancy meal for myself. Love lobster, king crab and I make a killer spagetti sauce in the crockpot.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
You'll have to get to know me to learn that kind of stuff.
