I'm definitely unique, just like everybody else. But seriously, I am different in that I don't seem to fit any of the usual stereotypes. I'm soft spoken and shy, but willing and able to stand up for the people I care about and the things I believe in. Never married, but probably the most loyal and devoted person you will ever meet. Probably viewed by some as being a little eccentric, but in a very "Disney movie" kind of way - my heart is always in the right place and I often have a childlike enthusiasm for things. I also seem to possess an ability to be funny without even trying, at times. Most importantly though, especially on a site like this, I'm very honest (which unfortunately seems to be rare online) so feel free to ask any questions. Thanks for reading and good luck to all.
What I’m doing with my life
Trying to enjoy it and help others do the same. Hoping to keep learning and improving along the way, at work, in my hobbies and
as a person. Staying fit and living a healthy lifestyle - recently added running and racing to my routine. I have many interests including reading and writing, movies, music, using the computer - and I admit to being a big sports fan (sorry, but I'm a guy, that's our job). Hoping to find a partner to share all of the above as well as whatever interests her.
I’m really good at
I'm best at being modest - but would like to believe I'm okay at writing and using my imagination, helping those I care about, being reliable, and making people laugh. I've always been good at working out and staying fit, although as a beginner I'm a pretty poor excuse for a runner so far - but I have a lot of determination to achieve my goals, so I expect to improve. There's always hope.
The first things people usually notice about me
I wish I knew, but you'd have to ask them. They probably notice that I'm shy, as that one is hard to hide. But if they look harder, they'll find that I'm also very open and communicative.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Too many to list but here's a sampling:
Books: Lord of the Rings, The Catcher in the Rye, Shoeless Joe, The Hobbit, Leaving Las Vegas, Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking, Ordinary People.
Movies: Rocky, Star Wars, The Karate Kid (1984), Sixteen Candles, Big, Rain Man, Field of Dreams, Beauty and the Beast, Titanic, East of Eden, Lord of the Rings, American Graffiti.
Shows: The Brady Bunch, Happy Days, Cheers, Seinfeld.
Music: Beatles, Counting Crows, U2, Nirvana, Dido, Carole King, James Taylor, REM.
Food: Italian, Chinese, Vegetarian, Met-Rx supplements (Like to eat healthy).
The six things I could never do without
Disregarding the obvious like air and food:
4) Sense of accomplishment
7) People who don't put arbitrary limits on lists
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Self improvement, things to write stories about, helping others, people I'd like to meet, movies, music, books, baseball, how to become a better runner, and the meaning of life (still trying to figure that one out). Also, why does okcupid consider us to be "enemies" if we differ in trivial things like taste in music or hobbies?
On a typical Friday night I am
Resting up for the weekend - although I do usually workout first. I'm open to going out though, if the right opportunity arises.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm also a Chicago Cubs fan, and have a Cubs T-shirts that says "1908 World Champions" - the last year they won. As I mentioned earlier, I am loyal.
You should message me if
Your profile is honest, as is mine. You have a kind heart and are looking for the same. You take time getting to know someone and are open to friendship as well as something serious. Your ultimate goal is to find a love that lasts forever - as true love always does. You believe that hope springs eternal. And you believe that nice guys can finish first (since I'm on a mission to prove that - LOL).
