I am smart, friendly, and eclectic.

My Self-Summary

A bit shy, somewhat reserved, a bit eccentric, I can be funny, kinda silly, somewhat serious, but happy, warm and friendly with others. Sometimes intolerant (depends on the subject and situation... ignorance pisses me off) and flexible at the same time. I believe in social equality and its struggle in a small and big scale. I love nature but I also love technology. Overall a solitary person due to my selective nature. I love traveling even if I haven't had much time or money for quite some time now. I love languages, foreign things (I sometimes refer to myself as a Xenophile...) among other stuff :)

What I’m doing with my life

Finishing my bachelor's degree in French language and literature this year and planning on studying abroad later on. I also work part-time in the family business. I'd like to specialize in Asian Studies afterwards, learning both Japanese and Chinese and I don't have a specific career in mind yet... probably a college professor :)

I’m really good at

A lot of stuff? Or only specific things? Honestly not sure. I'm good with languages, writing, academics, computers, video games and expressing my ideas in both written and oral form :)

The first things people usually notice about me

My retracted nature which is sometimes confused by shyness but is not completely true. My intelligence is also something people usually compliment me on (though I don't think I'm that smart either, so DON'T think I'm boasting), as well as my friendliness. Physically, people notice my height and my weight (kinda slim I admit). Some say I look refined and elegant.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

I like French and Spanish lit a lot :) Including Rousseau's works (Le contrat social, Emile, L'origine de la différence parmi les hommes), and other XVIII and XIX century authors like Le marquis de Sade, Flaubert (Madame Bovary) and Zola (Thérèse Raquin). The spanish romanticism movement was also quite cool, as well as magical realism in latinamerican literature. Asian literature is also quite cool :) Especially mythology. More in the contemporary french scene I like Marguerite Duras, the novel L'amant de la Chine du nord had me hooked from beginning to end. Can't wait to read L'amant.

Movies? A lot...

The Matrix trilogy, Contact (even if they spoke of Arecibo as a village -LOL-), La faute à fidel, Tous les matins du monde, The Grudge (Japanese version), The eye (chinese version), Children of men, What dreams may come, 28 days later, 28 weeks later, Amélie, À la folie pas du tout, El orfanato, El laberinto del fauno, Crouching tiger hidden dragon, martial arts movies, Twilight Samurai, Ran, Yojimbo, Sanjuro, Rashomon, Ringu, The painted veil, Summer of kikujiro, among others...

I also watch a lot of anime, my favorite movies are from Miyazaki and Satoshi Kon, like Spirited away, Naussica or Perfect blue, Tokyo godfathers, and Paprika. Favorite anime series are Evangelion, Blue Seed, Gundam SEED, Bleach, Gundam 00, Ergo Proxy, Karas, among others :) ...

I hear a lot of J-music I admit, my fav band being Asian Kung fu generation. I also like some American artists like Paula Cole, Norah Jones and Sarah Mclachlan. French band Paris Combo is also pretty cool and electronic (techno-trance, Paul van dyke) is cool from time to time. Not to mention some memorable video game soundtracks (Chrono Cross bieng the best :D) Classical violin solos as well and piano jazz is great for soothing my emotions :)

I don't watch much TV anymore but my current fav TV series are Heroes and The Office, or that's what she said -lol-

I like... vegetarian food :D Also traditional puertorican dishes like rice & beans with batata, ñame, yautía among other verduras.

The six things I could never do without

1. Family
2. My best friend
3. Music
4. Art
5. Technology
6. A pet :)

I spend a lot of time thinking about

The future, in terms of myself and the world in general. History, social and economic changes in countries as well as leftist ideals are usually subjects I both like to both read up on and think about. Other times I'm lost in thought about something I read, or thinking about a story I have. I also sing along to music in my head and have random self-projection about traveling to other countries.

On a typical Friday night I am

First, be glad that the week (academically) is finally over. Second, planning out something fun to do with my best friend or my sister :P If it's Heroes, Anime, J-Dorama, video game or Film marathons; or going out to the arcades, movies, theater or do random errands together, all that matters is that I'm having some relaxing time with those I care about :D

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I haven't fallen in love in more than 3 years.
