My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I like learning, exploring, close relationships, and making my community a better place. I am very committed to the people in my life, and am good at making relationships work. I work well under uncertainty, I think carefully through my actions and beliefs, and I travel light (through life and through the world). I grew up in the Bay Area, went to MIT for undergrad, and now I'm back. (EDIT: I'll be in NYC from Jun to Sep 2015, and would be happy to meet new friends/activity partners regardless of romantic potential.)
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I'm a fourth-year PhD student in theoretical computer science at Stanford. I hope to stay in the Bay Area after I graduate.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Being there for people, understanding how things work, math, running.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
This is not too important to me; I rarely share book/movie/etc interests with the people I'm close to. The best books I've read in the recent past are Comparative Biomechanics: Life's Physical World, Alice in Wonderland, Brief Interviews with Hideous Men, and The Death and Life of Great American Cities. I probably like most of the books you read in your high school/college English classes. I like making music, though I haven't done it in a while: I played the sitar and tabla (Indian instruments) growing up, and briefly sang in an a capella group in college.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Varies a lot year to year. In the last couple of years, in no particular order: hanging out with friends, doing math, backpacking, climbing, building things out of 2x4s, exploring, running, organizing math contests, or attending dance practice. I'm usually happy to pick up the interests of my closest friends.

Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
The following have been good indicators of lasting friendship and romance in my past, though feel free to message me whether or not you fall into the categories below. Most of this is copy-pasted from other places, so sorry that it doesn't flow as well as it did in its original context.

* Interested in a high touch relationship, both on a day to day level, and in terms of developing a life together. E.g. I expect my hobbies, friend circle, career goals, etc will change to be compatible with my wife.

* Someone who gives and receives a lot of affection.

* PhD student.

* Is in a career where you can set your own schedule and location (e.g. most PhD students not tied to a wet lab).

* Intellectually sharp, and naturally observant / curious.

* Pretty good at running (or have been at some point, whether or not you are in shape at the moment).

* Healthy and physically robust. Eg. can sleep on a bus in a developing country without needing medication, and can miss a meal or a night of sleep and not think twice about it.

* Energetic and enthusiastic about life. Would have a very hard time sitting through 5 hours of TV.

* Don't drink, or drink rarely enough that it isn't a major part of your life.
