I tried out several different careers before it sunk in that people are only interested in paying you to do things that make money for them, so I channeled my smarts and people skills into real estate. I like it a lot more than I expected to.
I think it's easy to get caught up in work around here, to forget what it was like when we had the free time necessary to really listen and have thoughtful conversation. It's the foundation of connection though, I think - for me at least. That's the definition of work/life balance to me, being able to set aside the to do list and really be tuned in to the person you're with.
