My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
"There are people. There are stories. The people think they shape the stories, but the reverse is often closer to the truth." - Alan Moore

I'm a pure learner and never stop absorbing new information. I love listening to history podcasts, going down the Wikipedia rabbit hole, and watching random documentaries to learn as much about as many things as possible. I play a lot of history-based games like Civilization and Europa Universalis and love using them as a jumping-point for learning more. So basically if you're on here not for dating but just to find a pub trivia partner, I'm your man.

I love discovering new films (Netflix and Doug Loves Movies were made for me) and new music (college radio alum!), playing instruments, and working on crosswords and other puzzles. I passionately follow the O's, Ravens, Terps, and every Kennedy ever.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Working at a concert venue/promoter in DC. I really love music and being involved with the production of concerts. Music's a universal language, and there's something great to being a part of creating something big that others can enjoy.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
... being more productive when busier, quickly organizing and planning (even though I'd *far* rather plan ahead), instantly summoning useless trivia, coming up with mixtapes, making apple sauce from scratch, sending postcards from obscure locations, creating neologisms, and using the Oxford comma.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books: The Perks of Being a Wallflower, 1984, Slaughterhouse-Five, Watchmen, The Bro Code. Crichton, Poe, Palahniuk. The ending of The Catcher in the Rye is horrible. I follow a few comic books (Deadpool and his antics being my favorite) and adore theatre.

Movies: When Netflixin', I usually search for "quirky." I really like the works of Woody Allen, Michel Gondy, Terry Gilliam, and Wes Anderson. I agree with Devin Faraci in that Evil Dead II is possibly one of the most perfect films ever made. A recent film I enjoyed was Ex Machina. And, the most important thing: the best Star Wars movie is The Empire Strikes Back. Don't even try to argue it.

Television: Of what's currently on-air, I'm watching Hannibal, Agents of SHIELD, House of Cards, Game of Thrones, Veep, The Blacklist, Doctor Who, Cosmos, and the Amazing Race. Of their fallen brethren, I'm into Futurama, Boston Legal, How I Met Your Mother, Twin Peaks, Freaks and Geeks, Arrested Development, MST3k, and the West Wing. I also adore Mythbusters, random History Channel shows, and Bill Nye.

Music: David Bowie, Weezer, Talking Heads, Oingo Boingo, The Smiths, Nirvana, Muse, Beck. I'm really into alt rock and New Wave.
I usually listen to music as album. My favorite Beatles album is With the Beatles, and the album I keep playing on repeat lately is Rilo Kiley's The Execution of All Things.

Food: Pizza Hut recently released a pizza with a pretzel crust. My life was made.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
I think a lot about a lot of things. If you hang around me long enough, you'll hear random musings like:

- Did studying Mandarin for two years helped me better understand Firefly?
- Did Zach Braff make Garden State just as an excuse to release his mixtape to the masses?
- Would the NSA employee reading my profile and Google search history be interested in drinks this Saturday night?
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Probably at work at a concert. If not, watching my girl Ally McBeal be all independent.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Thomas Mars asked me for my phone number.
