My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Accomplished, semi-retired, social activist with many endearing attributes. Ivy-league-educated Ph.D. (Urban and Regional Planning), ready for a great relationship with a grown-up as I transition into the autumn of my life. I’m handy around the house. Cooking, growing flowers, and puttering in my small flower gardening are some of my hobbies. In relationships, I am reliable, intense, kind, and intelligent, although I have been known to occasionally dither. Also pensive, young of heart, generous, appreciative of the blessings of life. I’m sensitive, fun loving, romantic, tactile, and a good and loyal friend. My curiosity is insatiable, as is my excitement about the future, value commitment and passion. I can be too serious at times; sometimes need down time to recharge.

I am drawn to strong women! Looking for someone who gets under my skin -- a fellow student and sensei (teacher), someone who challenges my mind, body, soul, and spirit. I value someone who knows herself and is comfortable with emotional intimacy. She should be kind, accomplished, intellectually honest, self-aware, affectionate, possessed with liberal or moderate thought, and tolerant of others, including me when my spirit eludes me. She should also be engaging, intelligent, mature, financially secure, intuitive, a good listener with a ready smile, independent, and secure in her skin. She’ll exhibit a quiet confidence, has an introspective nature with a capacity to be alone and simultaneously enjoy my company. Most important, she must share my passion for social justice, like cuddling/hugs, and long slow kisses.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Working on gracefully transitioning into the next phase of my life. I've served in high level political jobs, worked in the White House, taught policy planning, worked in financial services industry and for a national non-profit that developed housing and helped low income families acquire and keep their homes.

These days I am doing policy consulting on issues related to affordable housing. Political discourse is a big part of my DNA. Enjoy reading the Sunday New York Times and the Sunday talk shows, liberal politics, hanging out with friends, witty conversation, modern dance, architecture, and the rush of physical motion and of mental gymnastics. Love all types of music (except country), movies, the zoo, theater, and art museums, particularly the Phillips Collection. I am also an avid reader!

Threatening to take up art – photography, pottery and painting – that I used to do many years ago. Love the mountains, sailing, and sunsets. Fall weather, new fallen snow, gardening, cooking, Rock Creek Park and the tow path at Great Falls, listening to jazz and mini road trips rock my boat. Traveling more would also be nice although I am not one that wants to be constantly on the road. Like visiting country inns in New Hope and the California coast. Favorite spots are upstate New York, Seattle, Portland, Newport, and Hyde Park. Would like to return to Dea Beacon and Storm King in the fall; maybe see New Mexico, Ireland or Dresden. Also trying to eat healthier and exercise more.

Love a good murder mystery. Last read: "The Catcher in the Rye" by J.D. Salinger; The Confession by John Grisham; and Kill Alex Cross by James Patterson. Also selected poetry of Rilke. Also love all sorts of music(except country), particularly jazz and classical. Also, like all kinds of movies, particularly if they have great dialogue and make you think; however, I am not a fond of comedies.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
1. Puttering in my small garden and looking at great architecture;
2. All types of literature, Sunday New York Times and the Sunday talk shows;
3. Liberal politics; walking in Rock Creek park and the zoo and visiting upstate new york, New Port, Seattle, Portland, and country inns;
4. Hanging out with friends, fall weather, witty conversation, the rush of physical motion, and of mental gymnastics;
5. Music of all types of music (except country), movies, the theater, dance and art museums;
6. Cooking and entertaining close friends.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Lots of stuff, particularly the state of the body politic and its implications for we will become as a society!
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Generally like staying home and re cooperating from the week. However, always up for spending time with close friends or loved ones.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Will tell you later

Be brave and stout of heart and contact me if any of this clicks with you! The worst that could happen is that we would end up being friends. Don’t know about you, but I could always use a few more close friends.
