I moved back to Ohio from California (Bay Area) two and a half
years ago. I stayed with my mom for awhile in dayton before
deciding to Cincinnati in August. Even though I've been to the city
for various reasons over the years, I'm still learning my away
around. I write for the web, which means i work on the internet in
various capacities. I never thought that's what I would be doing
with my English degree but there you go. I am also a poet. I am a
published one, although it’s been awhile so I have been writing
some new poems to add to the ongoing book project which began
around 2005. I now think I am close to finishing it. I plan to
submit these poems to some contests once they are in a finished
I may look pretty bookish, but I'm not boring. I love to cook
(vegetarian primarily, anything with meat kind of messes with my
head), travel (especially someplace I haven't been before,
preferably outside of North America), play some occasional guitar,
love music and attending concerts, read (books, magazines, etc.),
and ride my road bike. If I could get paid to ride my road bike, I
would be in heaven. However, I also like long, meandering walks or
hikes (preferably with dog in tow), kayaking or canoeing, obtaining
knowledge about things I didn't have before.
I love all kinds of movies, but specifically more art-house movies:
2001 Space Odyssey, Shawshank Redemption, The World According To
Garp, but also enjoy British comedy such as Monty Python, Black
Adder, Mr. Bean, etc. Music is pretty open as well as long as it
isn't rap and/ or most country. I love lots of music: Rock, Jazz,
Classical even, but I have a preference for Alternative and
Classic/ Progressive Rock: Radiohead, The Smiths, Pink Floyd,
Crowded House, Philip Glass, Peter Gabriel, Low, etc., etc... I
also enjoy good coffee and wine and deep, enriching conversation
If any of this sounds interesting, then please write me and let's
begin our journey together.
What I’m doing with my life
Trying to write/ publish, find sustainable work in whatever so I
can travel, and to discover ways to make a living doing what I love
and am passionate about (Writing/ Bicycling). Most importantly,
trying to learn to be happy with who I am, but aren't we all in
I’m really good at
Cooking vegetarian, conversation about everything and nothing,
listening, writing, thinking, and cycling.
The first things people usually notice about me
Probably my looks. I've been told I have a unique face, but I'm
really not sure what that means. My kindness, and despite what
these questions suggest about me, I am a very loving and giving
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Reading 1984, read recently Fahrenheit 451, Invisible Man. I hate
it when people think that just because I was an English major, I've
read all the works of classic literature. Are you serious? Movies:
2001 Space Odyssey is a favorite, but I also like Blade Runner,
Monty Python, others. Recently saw The King's Speech and it was
great. I saw the Tree of Life and Midnight in Paris recently as
well. Music: Crowded House, The Decemberists, Low, The Moody Blues,
Radiohead, classic/ prog rock. Too many to mention. Food: Usually
prefer vegetarian but I love Indian, Italian, Mexican, Thai,
Chinese, etc. Basically, any books, music, movies, food I haven't
discovered and find on my own. To me, these discoveries are the
best thing about life.
The six things I could never do without
My brain, my hand which communicates with my brain, sunny days in
the 70s, freedom from the drudgery of life which makes it
unpleasant, death and illness, time to ride my bike, iPhone, mac.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Life and the ultimate destiny of the human race. How I do not want
to be a ghost floating through existence but to feel and experience
intensely everything I can in my blood, bones, and breath. In
addition to that, I think about new adventures, new writing, and
where I might end up working or visiting.
On a typical Friday night I am
Well, seeking something cool going on: a band in town I want to see
or a movie and food out somewhere. If not that, a decent dinner,
some wine, and a movie.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
You'll have to work harder than that to get out of me.
You should message me if
You think I'm attractive and you like what I wrote in my profile.
