My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Somehow or another I always seem to crack a joke about everything. I am a very funny, intelligent male who somehow manages to find a laugh no matter the circumstance .....sometimes detrimentally so. I am an avid reader, lover of sports, and love to cook (quite possibly 3 of the oddest thing you can combine, but hey that is me.) Growing up in Chicago has given me that smart aleck type of outlook on a lot of things, and I have learned over the years to not take too many things is fun and I enjoy it as much as I can. I just recently moved to Sun Valley, Idaho for my job and I must say this is a pleasant change of pace.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Living, working, I have a bit of a nomad gene in me I think. i certainly can settle down somewhere when i am content, but going back to school, moving for a better job, trying a new career, those are all things I have done and have no qualms about doing again if the situation felt right. I work in the hospitality industry, which I've done for twenty or so years now. I couldn't imagine a normal 9-5 job, or having every weekend off, or NOT working with a bunch of odd and quirky employees.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Hearing an obscure 80s song and identifying the movie its associated with. I'm embarrassed to admit I've seen every movie Esai Morales has acted in (though Bad Boys was stellar!) Also at pointing out the similarities between a sci fi/star wars/fantasy geek and meatball stats rattling sports fan (trust me, I live in both world's.)
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
No idea, I think I look very unassuming.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

Edit: my geek half LOVES the show Scorpion, it's like Big Bang Theory but with real writing and humor.

What's the point of rattling off a bunch of bullshit nobody has heard of to show how hip you are here? I tend towards the sci fi/fantasy nerd realm, but dammit I watch Love Actually at Christmas too. Musically if its from the 80s or 90s I like it. I pick and choose which of todays bullshit artists I listen to.
Edit: I'm in the staging area for 'Infinite Jest ' after I finish up my current books...can't wait!
My young niece was recently talented (and blessed) enough to be cast in the play "The Lion King." I was absolutely astounded by how the costumes translated to the big stage and the tremendous emotion of the play. I'm very much appreciative now of live musical theater than I ever was and certainly will take advantage of what Chicago has to offer. I love books that interest me, period. If I think it will hold my attention i will read it. Between actual books, my tablet, and my Nook I'm always surrounded by words and wouldn't have it any other way.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
What's with everyone answering coffee? I absolutely do love my nook, sports tv programming, and the changing of the seasons and life would definitely suck if I had to do without any of those three, but I'd live...I'd probably grumble and be unhappy if the Internet malfunctioned, and the world would definitely be a shitty place to live if i had to do without hearing kids laughing outside, but thats not really a concrete answer to the question..ah well
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
It changes to fit my situation, things I think about when i am with my family vary greatly from things I think about at say a Bears or Cubs game. I certainly worry about the well being of loved ones, and I spend WAY too much time thinking about the next book i am going to read, I mean damn the Chicago Public library is fairly big, just go get a book. I certainly wonder about what direction this country is in, while at the same time question why people still put ketchup on their hot dogs. Let's see what Idaho has to offer my ferocious book appetite. I am a die hard bibliophile. Now that the mountains are opening , I think about a lot about learning to snowboard.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Enjoying an adult beverage somewhere with friends, outdoor beer gardens are great, rooftop bars are nice, living room couch is quite comfortable, nothing I do tends to be "typical" I would have to say, depends on the time of the year, what else is going on that weekend, work schedule, etc.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I have an obsession with spending at least one night in every state in the US plus Canada and Mexico. So far I have Canada, Mexico, and 40 states. I have managed to physically visit all of the lower 48 however ...woot! Not sure if I should count Puerto Rico.

You don't mind someone who's tastes are so varied that they went to Miami for a Bears game a few weeks AFTER road tripping for a Star Wars convention. You have ever been so engrossed in a book that you missed your stop and didn't really care all that much...or have your shit together or at least pretend like you do. Can I just say I laugh really, really hard at women who don't want messages from men who are shirtless in a mirror, and their profile picture of course is them in a low cut top in front of a mirror.
