My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Since my divorce 4 years ago I've spent a lot of time soul searching, reexamining who I think I am and comparing that to who I really am. I'm trying to get better at things like communication, self-honesty, and really listening. It's funny. I've been working on listening to the point where I forget what I want to say when I'm talking to with someone. I listen, but I look stupid when I constantly lose my train of thought. Small price to pay and I think I'll get better with practice. Anyway…enough of that. This is an online dating profile. I should be posting pictures of me with my car and shirtless in the bathroom, right?

Let's see, I love watching movies and listening to a pretty eclectic mix of music. I like soul, punk, southern rock, progressive metal, plain ole metal, and jazz. Sort of a Otis Redding meets Bad Religion meets Allman Brothers meets Opeth meets Iron Maiden meets Miles Davis. Hm. That would be a horrible horrible sound.

I love reading and I'm in the middle of multiple books at any one time. Right now I'm reading House of Leaves.

I have a 6yo daughter so my schedule can be flaky as I'm tightly wound around her little finger. Happily so.

What I am:
Goofy
Geeky
Funny
Romantic
Easy going

What I am not:
Judgmental
Quick to anger
Religious
Late
A cheater

What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I'm living my life as best I can while trying to learn from mistakes and hopefully have a positive impact on at least a few people.

Becoming a father allowed me to gain focus and perspective on life's priorities.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
I like to think that I'm good at being a father to my daughter and two step-sons (I refuse to call them "former" even though their Mom and I are divorced). I'm far from perfect but I try to make sure I model the right behaviors for them to emulate while allowing myself the room to mess up sometimes.

I'm also really good at trivia and I like to think I'm a good cook.

Food: It's easier to say what I don't like as I like pretty much everything. I don't like liver and veal. Other than that, I've like pretty much everything. Well, except for the jellyfish I had in Hong Kong but I don't run into that very often in TX. Lately I've been trying to eat better with limited success.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
-Daughter
-Father
-Internet
-Humor
-Sense of accomplishment
-Smell of fresh cut grass
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
I think about my daughter a lot and try to make sure I'm being as good a father as possible. I don't over-parent or micro-manage, I just think about things so that when a situation occurs I have an idea of what I want to do. A good example is her climbing on a playscape. I see other parents holding their kids the whole time. I don't do that. I let her climb and fall (within reason of course) herself so that she can learn what she's capable of and how to do things herself. If she gets hurt that's OK. I'm there to keep her from getting injured.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
The weekends when I have my daughter I am focused on her. So on those Friday nights I'm watching Curious George and Rug Rats or doing some crafts with her. On the weekends when I don't have my daughter I'm looking for something to do outside of the house. I enjoy meeting friends for beers or having some folks over to eat some food I've grilled.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I love my cat.
