My self-summary
I am a work in progress.
======================
Just moved to the Twin Cities! Looking for new friends! Using lots of exclamation points!

If you haven't already noticed, I'm very happily in a relationship with a great woman, ParkerDorothy. Friends only please.

I am dreaming, passionate, nerdy, curious, and an acquired taste

The first things people usually notice about me
This presupposes that people notice me, which they ought not to when I engage my pocket-teeshirt camouflage.

If, by chance, I'm actually hanging out with someone in public. I'm probably giving advice, interrupting or excitedly waving my hands around, talking too loudly and getting carried away.

Obviously, whomever I'm with must have made the mistake of asking about something I'm passionate about. I hope they have an exit strategy.

Or I'm quietly reading in the corner, trying not to worry about eye contact.

Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
TV: NCIS, Stargate SG-1, Stargate: Atlantis , Star Trek, Firefly

Books: Too many to count, but here's a try:
* To Say Nothing Of The Dog is pretty awesome: sci-fi, comedy, a little romance and a touch of history all-in-one... what could be better?
* Little House on a Small Planet: Truly excellent; really tries to get at the heart of the question of "what do really want and need out of a house? out of a home?"
* The Happy Minimalist: A bit extreme, but still worth a quick read.
* Pretty much anything by Jasper Fforde, from Thursday Next to The Big Over Easy and The Fourth Bear
* Pretty much anything by P.G. Wodehouse (pronounced "Woodhouse", spelled "Wodehouse")
* Snow Crash and The Diamond Age, both by Neal Stephenson who also wrote In the Beginning was the Command Line
and, finally,
* It Was On Fire When I Lay Down On It by Robert Fulghum

Computer Books:
* Programming Ruby
* Joel on Software
* Peopleware
* The Mythical Man Month

Movies: Not as much of a movie person, so I don't have a list, but they're still good on occasion.

I spend a lot of time thinking about
The future, the past, the world at large. The news, the fickleness of society, the problems with society, the state of affairs in the world today. The unsustainable nature of the American Dream, the American way of life and so on.

Recently, how much more environmentally friendly cities are than "back to the land" etc. Strange, huh?

On a typical Friday night I am
Once I get settled, I'll let you know. Maybe friends? Maybe my xbox and a bottle of beer? Maybe a book? Maybe a bike ride?

The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm very all-or-nothing, almost to a fault -- though this can be a strength at work, it's a weakness in relationships.

I'm working on shades of grey, on being less-binary.

I’m looking for
  • Everybody
  • Ages 18-40
  • Located anywhere
  • For new friends
You should message me if
...you want to!

If you wear a bike helmet whenever you ride.
You find nerds sexy.
You enjoy economics.

If you've actually read this far! ;)

You want someone who is awesome and knows it (or at least suspects), but is also deeply flawed and human, sometimes. Go figure.

You are well-informed, have something interesting to say and know how to leave a man alone when he needs it. Conversely, you know how to drag a man out of his den and outside when he needs it.

You know LISP, OCaml, Ruby or any oddball computer language you think I might like.

You know who you are.
