My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Not above occasionally embarrassing myself for the sake of a cheap-ass laugh.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I'm from Detroit (the city proper) and I came to NY in 2007 to study at Juilliard. Aside from a year in Southeast Asia after I finished school, I've lived in NY since. Music - performing, recording, and teaching (in that order) all over the world is my career and, at the risk of sounding mortifyingly cheesy, my life. I honestly don't know what I'd do without it. Seriously though... I'm in love with music, but in a very, very real and pragmatic sense, I don't know how I'd pay my bills without it.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
That I'm on a stage. Also that I like to cut my own hair.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

Although this skill has diminished over the years, there was a time when if given a line of dialogue or plot point from ANY Seinfeld episode I could tell you which episode and rehash its entire story line. Otherwise, I LOVE Peep Show, (all) Alan Partridge, Curb, Extras, The Wire, (golden era) Simpsons, Aqua Teen, Children's Hospital, NTSF, Louie, Nova, Hi-Fidelity, Grail, Lebowski, The Onion, Wuthering Heights (the greatest love story I've ever read), The Unbearable Lightness of Being (the most depressing love story I've ever read), Kafka, Kundera, Howard Zinn, Chomsky, Hitchens, Orwell, the like, Duke, Miles, Monk, Trane, Mingus, Bird, Michael Jackson, Marvin Gaye, Stevie, Earth Wind and Fire, Radiohead, Bjork, Squarephusher, Aphex Twin, Tribe Called Quest, DeLaSoul, Merle Haggard, John Denver, Joni Mitchell, Tito Puente, Celia Cruz, Bach, Wagner, Ravel, Debussy, Vaughn-Williams, etc. I've literally liked at least one piece of music from every genre I've ever been exposed to except for that of rap-rock. This doesn't mean there's not good rap-rock out there (there probably isn't), it just means that I haven't heard it.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
I've realized over the years that the people I care about and music are more or less the only things that really matter to me. I'm more interested in the people I'm with than the physical place we're in. I love movies and books and bicycling and all kinds of other fun things, but the feeling I get from the mutual stimulation between myself and the people I love is the most priceless thing I've experienced to date. Joking around with friends/loved ones and the feeling from playing/listening to music are the things that really get my brain chemistry going. And then, you know, shelter and an ozone and all that wonderful stuff. Good food is up there as well.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Probably way, waaaay too much time thinking about music. How a grasp of scientific philosophies can help to better shape our moral landscape and self understanding. What the world is going to look like in the future if things keep going the way they're going*.
*nota bene: horrible.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Whether in the city or abroad I'm typically playing a concert Friday nights, but that's almost always followed by late night revelry of some form or another.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm most at home when I'm naked and mostly naked when I'm at home. Clothing and fashion are a sometimes-amusing burden at best. I prefer to express myself through words and actions but, now get this - people don't want to hire you to perform on a stage if you walk around dressing like shit all the time, so I have to kind of dress nice and have some sense of personal style for my job (though I do enjoy putting on my Sunday-go-to-meetin clothes).

If you think you have at least a basic sense of empathy and integrity and are a sincere person - not a sincere person in the I-take-myself-mega-seriously sense, but more in the I-can-sincerely-communicate-my-thoughts-and-emotions-to-others sense. If you think we might potentially laugh at the same things. Also, love it or hate it, you're pretty much bound to see/experience something you haven't seen/experienced before, so if that notion intrigues you.. Or if you're into things like this:
