I am audacious, quixotic, and mostly harmless.
My Self-Summary
Witty profiles are not my forte, I'm too direct a person for that,
but I enjoy others' witty profiles more than those like mine. I'm a
gypsy at heart, which could mean I am either extremely enthusiastic
about new places and people or I lack direction. I'm not quite
sure. Appreciation of all things in life is a big motivator for me.
The two phrases I say most are "I'm up for anything" and "sure, why
not?" I'm not the type of person to make plans. Call me when you
have the plans and I'll be über excited about going. Ask me what I
want to do and I'll probably say "I dunno, I'm up for whatever,"
albeit in a very enthusiastic manner. I don't look down on other
people, and I always find something I appreciate about everyone I
meet. That is more difficult with some people, but I have yet to
meet a person that doesn't have at least one purely awesome
quality. There is good in everything and everyone, sometimes you
just have to look hard. I love
travel by any means to anywhere. Other
interests include:
animals,
camping, reading,
foreign films, studying
religion as an
anthropological exercise,
new experiences,
music,
movies, history (especially byzantine),
thinking, agricultural policy, change, eccentricity, linguistics,
useless trivia, bilingual education, volunteering, rainbows in the
dark, people, and unpredictability. I am a kind and giving person
who helps anyone and everyone. For the most part I am positive and
I get along with everyone no matter our differences. I like people
who are seekers by nature, searching for knowledge, truth, and
experiences. Life's a garden, dig it.
Now in Spanish
Soy profesora, y es mi vida. Me encanta viajar a nuevos lugares.
Siempre busco experiencias diferentes.
What I’m doing with my life
I was a Spanish teacher for 4 years. I loved it, but I need a break
before I burn out. At this point in my life I am trying to
de-stress, de-clutter, and d(i)e-scover. I'm also about to go to
law school as working for an immigration attorney has really got me
psyched for law again.
I’m really good at
I'm REALLY good at talking a lot, getting distracted, anything
involving school (despite the whole getting distracted easily
thing), sounding like I know what I'm talking about, and listening
(despite my propensity to talk a lot).
The first things people usually notice about me
Physically - my hair and glasses.
Personality-wise - people say they feel comfortable around me.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Books: Anything by Graham Greene, Chuck Palahniuk, Douglas Adams,
and Jack Kerouac.
Poem: Charge of the Light Brigade.
Movies: Ones that give you that odd, isolated, awkward feeling. Ex:
Wes Anderson and David Lynch films. I like movies that make you
feel strange and new emotions that you don't feel in everyday life.
But I also enjoy good, off-the-wall comedies. Favorite movies
include Empire of the Sun, Amelie, AmoresPerros, Eternal Sunshine
of the Spotless Mind, Southland Tales, The Big Lebowski, MASH, I
<3 Huckabee's, LOTR Trilogy, Monty Python's (insert movie title
here), Brain Candy, The Secret of Nimh, Shaun of the Dead, Bubba
HoTep, Donnie Darko, City of God, Moulin Rouge, Garden State, La
Puta y la Ballena, and No Country for Old Men.
TV: My So-Called Life, House, Heroes, Bones, Weeds, True Blood,
Scrubs, MASH, MacGyver, Califorication, Tim & Eric Awesome
Show, Buffy, Pete & Pete, and Ren & Stimpy.
Music: Mellow semi-indie stuff, 90's alternative rock, classic
rock, and anything with string/orchestral accompaniment. My current
and historically favorite artists include: The Twilight Singers,
LCD Soundsystem, MGMT, Flogging Molly, Postal Service, Social
Distortion, Nirvana, The Pixies, Swans, TI, The Killers, Afghan
Whigs, Faith No More, Smashing Pumpkins, Alkaline Trio, Pearl Jam,
Gutter Twins, and Creedence Clearwater Revival.
Food: Mediterranean, Ethiopian, Caribbean, and Italian. I am a
vegetarian, but
I don't care what you eat, as long as you don't try to preach to me
about how animals were put here for our consumption.
The six things I could never do without
In no particular order: family & friends (they are the same to
me), intelligent conversation, climate control, music, travel, and
books.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Anything and everything. My brain never sleeps. Mostly I think
about how things are connected and what patterns exist in life, the
universe, and even in the mundane. I enjoy thinking about how the
world could be better and what I could do to make that happen. I do
have an annoying habit of letting everyone else know what questions
pop into my head as I see things. For example, as I walk by the
beer isle I often think to myself (and often say aloud) "I wonder
who first thought of drinking rotten grain?" I'm not necessarily
looking for an answer, though if someone has one, I am stoked.
On a typical Friday night I am
Going to a concert, looking for something to do, reading a book at
a coffee shop, watching movies with friends, driving around for
fun, or doing anything else my friends want to do.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I am a dabbler. I have a wide range of general interests, but I'm
not so adept at following those interests to fan status. I find
something I love, get obsessed for a month or so, learn everything
I can about it, and then I find something else I love, rinse, and
repeat.
I would be a career student if it paid at all.
I get restless being in one place for more than 2 years. I
rearrange my house every 6 months so I feel like I moved.
I was raised a Trekkie.
I love video games, but I am super picky about which ones (anything
with Final Fantasy in the title).
Clothes shopping is my least favorite activity.
I am a messy organization freak. My house looks all cluttered, but
there really is a system.
I love wearing pin-stripes with polka dots, and I do not see how
they clash.
I wear high heels 80-90% of the time because they make my back not
hurt.
When I was 18 I decided to get a tattoo. I found this butterfly
that I thought was really pretty. Then I decided to get it tattooed
on my lower back! It took a few months for me to realize that I had
gotten a "tramp stamp". I've decided not to get rid of it or tattoo
over it because I like it being there as a symbol of stupidity for
when I take myself too seriously. That and I still think it's
pretty.
I think I don't understand the definition of the word "most."
You should message me if
I'm here to take quizzes with
hetsar and
Chenin and to see if my friends and I are
compatible, so I'm not really looking for messages.
