I am a listener, a smiler, and a delighter.

My Self-Summary

I'm a cocktail-sipping, show-going, neighborhood-exploring, fine-dining fool. I'm equally at home puttering about my apartment, where I keep up on my obsession with the written word. I split my free time between city mouse and country mouse, and think it'd be swell to have someone special to share this with: shows at The Independent and the 18th St Gourmet Ghetto restaurants sharing time with secret Marin hiking trails and walking the hidden stairways around the city. I'll pretend to be coerced into going to the ballet, just as long as we get to dress up.

I have opinions, but want to hear yours. I'm a bit shy, but open up. Let me show you my version of San Francisco and you show me yours. I'll chase you around the Sutro Baths as in Harold and Maude, give you my quarters at Musee Mechanique, go on a hike up Mt. Davidson, and practice tying Figure-8 knots at Mission Cliffs. Let's rent the Hollywood classics set in San Francisco and look for the places we recognize.

In terms of the nitty-gritty, I've spent enough time with myself to really know myself. I'm pretty -- even painfully -- self-aware. I'm a good (over-)communicator, and I look for the same in a partner. In my family, we always end conversations with terms of endearment, so expressiveness is important to me. I find absolute pleasure in sharing experiences with people I care about, but truly value and appreciate the mutual enrichment that comes from having our own lives. As above, I like to show people new things, but even more fascinating is being shown and taught things I don't know. I love my job and consider it to be pretty redeemable, but I work hard at balance so I can enjoy the rest of my life.

And as much as relationships are chemistry and just clicking with each other, I know that they are also a form of work, at least some of the time. You don't get two strong people together and expect it all to be easy (unrealistic media-fed expectations, etc.). As much as one can know the future, I think I'm set up to be able to build and enjoy something that lasts.

What I’m doing with my life

Designing ways for people to connect and communicate and get things done. Working with people smarter than me and being humbled every day. I friggin' love my job, and I'm friends in real life with a lot of my coworkers. The gig can be stressful and occupy a lot of my time, but there's never a day when I don't wake up psyched to go to work. I feel grateful for all of the above.

The first things people usually notice about me

My intensity, and my curiosity - sometimes paired, sometimes separate. My quickness to turn to a smile or to turn something on its head for levity. My love of San Francisco.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

How the universe ticks and what can be done within its fundamental limits to make things work better. Just a little more happiness and a little less misery for a lot of people adds up.

You should message me if

Your tastes are as diverse as they are good. You take pleasure in the small details of life: the smell of the city after the rain, the taste of fresh loaf from Tartine, those strange stencils on the sidewalk on the corner. You're mildly obsessive about good food and don't mind hunting to find it.

You're whip-smart and confident enough to know it. You think you're sexy. You know how to be moved and how to move others. You enjoy teaching, challenging, and inspiring others. You know how to love people for their quirks, not just tolerate them.

You're passionate about something. You probably read too much and harbor strange fascinations. You are rarely bored. You work on interesting projects in your spare time (or maybe your full-time). You have the skill of storytelling and the experience to back it up.

But to start, I'd like someone who can tell me where I should vacation in the Pacific Northwest in a couple of months, why so many women on this site list Murakami's books in their favorites, what movie they're most looking forward to seeing, and what would be an appropriate mix-tape for a late afternoon drive headed south along the coast.
