My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Hey there, I'm Roy.

I strongly believe common interests are integral in starting communication, but differing interests will lead to growth for both members of a relationship.

I can be really shy and quiet at times, especially when I get around people I don't know. Once I get to know a person, especially knowing what we have in common, I will open up. I'm not a partier. I've tried drinking and I honestly don't get the appeal.

I really enjoy classic movies. I've got a book called 1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die. It is a goal of mine to see as many of them as I can. I've seen well over 300 of them at this point.

Friends and coworkers tell me I'm smart, nice, caring, funny and kind.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I'm taking each day as it comes. For the most part, its pretty predictable. Work, eat, sleep. While I generally like life being predictable, a little change in routine would be nice.

Besides my full-time job, I also have 2 small-businesses. One deals in medical technology and I am part-owner with my two best friends from high school. The other involved the digital restoration of old, public domain books.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
my job. After over 16 years on the job, I've made myself extremely valuable. Sometimes, I have to work at multiple locations each day.
I find myself being taught new things frequently. I've done almost every job imaginable at my library.

I'm also good at working with technology. I can usually find my way around a phone, computer or TV without an instruction manual (though I'm not afraid to use the manual if I need it).

I used to be quite good on the cello, but it has been a long time since I played.

Saying the right thing, but phrasing it the wrong way.
The first things people usually notice about me

Lately, its been my shoes. Packers green and gold has a tendency to stand out.

Its a little unusual because normally people don't notice me. I had a coworker begin to refer to me as a ninja because she'd look up from a book and I was there. She never heard me or saw me.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

Anything science fiction, particularly Star Wars related.

Books: Jurassic Park, The 5000 Year Leap, The Hound of the Baskervilles.
I tend to read more non-fiction now, for my book restoration work.

Movies: Lord of the Rings trilogy, films of the Marx Brothers, Alfred Hitchcock films, almost any film on the AFI top 100 films list.
I have a collection of over 400 movies and TV series on DVD.

TV Shows: Leverage, Get Smart (1960s), Mythbusters, Stargate, Animaniacs, Mr. Wizard's World. In terms of contemporary shows, I watch The Americans, Homeland, Agents of SHIELD and several news/current events shows on a regular basis.

Music: There is no rhyme or reason to what I like. I like what I like. Rock, classical, blues, country, big band. The collection of MP3s on my computer ranges from Daft Punk to The Irish Rovers, Rammstein to Bach.
Have yet to find any rap I like, besides Weird Al Yankovic.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
In the grand scheme of things, there is nothing I could never do without besides sustenance, a roof over my head and the freedom to live my life as I desire. While the Internet, TV and a cellphone are things I have come to rely on, I could probably survive without them.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
...where I'm going with my life. Is there a change in my future? Could I turn the book restoration into a full-time job?
...the future of the country. Being up-to-date on current events is really important to me there are things going on in the world that worry me.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
working until 9, then at home. I haven't had much reason to go out on a Friday night. I just have no interest in bars.

But I'd love to have a reason.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
...I'm a flawed individual, as we all are. Mine tend to manifest in a different way, that's all.
