My self-summary
In the world according to Ryan, everything is a playground.

“Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot,
Nothing is going to get better. It's not.”
― Dr. Seuss

Of all the characteristics people can have, I value creativity the most. And being a good person, of course, but that goes without saying.

If you're not smiling then you're not doing it right. Especially for the easy things, but especially for the hard things.

I enjoy the goodnesses in life, including:
- Good conversation with good people
- Cooking and eating whole foods
- Riding my bike slow
- Riding my bike fast
- Music in every form. Playing, listening.
- Yoga
- Learning
- Laughing
- Creating
- Plunging my hands into the soil
- The sound of everything
- The smell of not being in the city
And everything else, too

I've done a lot of seemingly random things, like taught music at a nonprofit, coached a High School Wrestling team, wrote a rhyming Children's Book, played music with a few members of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and road tripped across the US. But maybe they're not so random.
What I’m doing with my life
Giant Steps.

Not too long ago I quit my (boring) job to go to grad school so that my energy will go toward making the world a better place. That's what I believe every able-bodied/minded adult should strive for.

I just finished getting my Masters in Nanotechnology from UPenn, where I worked on new types of Solar Cells. I eventually want to work on many different kinds of tech that will facilitate Environmental Sustainability. But solar energy is a good start.

Now I'm going to UF for a PhD in Materials Science (I did my undergrad at UF too). So I won't actually be in Gainesville until July/early August, but I'll visit on and off before then.

It's a bit strange returning to Gainesville. The great Oaks still echo with some of my greatest successes and failures, and I'm unsure if they have anything left to offer me. But somewhere between the swaying Spanish Moss and the glowing sunsets I think there is something there for me. It think it will be a great time.
I’m really good at
Grabbing a hand-basket at the grocery store when I really need a cart, and being too (insert adjective of your choice here) to switch.
The first things people usually notice about me
That I'm humming along to the music playing in my head. Or that I'm using my body as a drum. Or using something around me as a drum. Probably not an actual drum.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Favorite Books: East of Eden, The Short Stories of Ernest Hemingway, Biomimicry, The Story of Stuff, Omnivore's Dilemma, People's History, Did I Ever Tell You How Lucky You Are? by Dr. Seuss, and many more.

Music: All. Please give me good music to listen to. Now.
Currently exploring: Joanna Newsom

Food: Kale and Quinoa find there way into the majority of food I make.
The six things I could never do without
Mental Intercourse
The giggles
Challenge
Creative Outlets
A few good hours of down dog and standing on my head every week
My bicycle
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Hmm, is that enough Sriracha? No, it probably needs more.

Time flies like an arrow, fruit flies like a banana.
On a typical Friday night I am
That's a silly question
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
For a creature that's still alive, I've done a surprisingly little amount of foraging.
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 21–32
  • Near me
  • Who are single
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating, activity partners
You should message me if
If our laughter is in key.

If you're an unstoppable force of nature.

If you want to jam. Let's harmonize!
