If you like what you see, then read on.

I'm a real up-to-sky kind of guy.
I'm crazy about film, literature, music, theatre, art, and
architecture, amongst other things.
I enjoy people who enjoy ideas.
I smile and laugh a lot.
I have a very dry wit.
I would never belong to any club that would have me as a member.
If you let me, I'll charm your pants off. And not just your pants.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I make movies in a variety of capacities. Also, I teach.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
I don't know karate, but I know ka-razy.

Owning the dance floor.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My aura. Blinding, hard to miss.

Apparently, I am familiar even though you've never met me.

Oh, and if I meet you off of this site, then it's "You look so much better than your photos." This is, obviously, not the best quality for online dating, I'll admit.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

Always reading something. Recent winners in the past few months: Death & Life of Great American Cities (Jacobs), Delirious New York (Koolhaas), Everything & More (DFW), Chronicle of a Death Foretold (Marquez), My Struggle (Knausgaard), Wittgenstein's Nephew (Bernhard). You know: beach reads.

Movies: Rules of the Game, Mouchette, Blowup, Chinatown, Rosemary's Baby, Harold & Maude, Cleo from 5 to 7, Stalker, Tokyo Story, the 7-Up series, Groundhog Day, Ordinary People, Yi Yi, Touch of Evil, Don't Look Now, the Isle of Flowers, Scenes from a Marriage, The Green Ray, Love & Death, The Great Muppet Caper. I know, I know, esoteric. But trust me, at least one of these titles you haven't seen is your future favorite film of all-time.

TV: The Wire, Breaking Bad, Twin Peaks, & Arrested Development. Broad City is hilarious.

Music: Cocteau Twins, Elliott Smith, Stevie Wonder, Arthur Russell, Schubert, Jobim, David Bowie, Bill Evans, Fela Kuti, The Smiths, The Band, Joni Mitchell, Neutral Milk Hotel, Os Mutantes, Jacques Brel, Pixies, Ratatat, Radiohead, Anita O'Day, James Brown, Tortoise, Wire, Beethoven, Big Star, Jorge Ben, Jai Paul, Richard & Linda Thompson. Recent St. Vincent & Angel Olsen albums were excellent. James Blake is pretty great.

I'm culturally omnivorous.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Love, sex, and art. Friends and family. Dreams.

This is real honesty here, people.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Being and Time.

And Movies.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Forging in the smithy of my soul the uncreated conscience of my race.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Maybe it's my imagination, but food seemed to taste better when I was a kid. Also, food would sing and dance and play musical instruments, but that could also have been my imagination.

Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
Here's what you should be: sweet yet sociable, confident yet humble. You do not conform but do not feel like a complete outsider either. You know how to expertly operate in society even if you feel like you do not completely "belong." In short, you are charming. (And hopefully, we find each other attractive.)

Oh, and you should like to laugh. A lot. I'm pretty funny but I'm even funnier with a receptive audience. Worst OkCupid date I ever went on was with a girl who didn't laugh once.

And even though it's not a prerequisite for a healthy relationship by any means, intelligence is very attractive to me. Curiosity, too.

P.S. I hate online dating. I'm not this profile, I don't look like those pictures (I look better), I can't interact online like I can in person. I'm just a guy looking for the usual things: love, sex, fun, laughter, excitement, companionship. (And someone I can just be completely comfortable with.)
