My self-summary
I am a transguy who moved to Columbus for grad school last August. Fun life fact: it is really, really hard to meet people to date and meet new friends while you're in grad school. That is why I am here.

I'm sure a million profiles say this but I don't really think I'm easy to summarize. At least, not if I'm being honest with you. I will say I take some digging to get to know. If you want to pigeonhole me to decide whether it's worth your while to keep reading, you can probably peg me as the liberal artsy type. I identify as queer moreso than bisexual.

I want to experience everything. Most days I find myself torn between a desire to connect and a desire for privacy.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm at OSU working on two master's degrees in social work and public health. I work a part time job and I am doing my field practicum at a Columbus hospital. I was working on a book, and I still flirt with the idea of writing creatively from time to time when class papers haven't yet ground those ambitions to dust.
I’m really good at
Writing, listening, diffusing tense situations, and hopefully not taking myself too seriously. I like taking care of people and I think I'm fairly perceptive.
The first things people usually notice about me
I sometimes make a game out of making new people guess how old I am before I tell them. Usually they're off the mark by about ten years, on the low end.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Old favorites are American Psycho, House of Leaves, The Prestige, The Brothers Karamazov, The Road, Jonathan Livingston Seagull, American Gods and George RR Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire. Junot Diaz is probably my favorite author. I'm on the fence about David Eggers' stuff but usually really enjoy reading it and connecting with it.

I love Parks and Rec and 30 Rock and will happily watch them on my own time. Same with Game of Thrones. I generally like stuff that is vaguely supernatural or fantasy-oriented.

I wish I knew more about movies and had more friends that like good movies. I like The Fall, Brick, XXY, Tarentino, Pan's Labyrinth, and The Usual Suspects.

I like indie rock and electronica. I promise I'm not a dick about it.

An ex once said of me that my favorite food varies depending on what I happen to be eating, which is true. But in general I like it to be spicy. I'm also pretty into craft beer.
The six things I could never do without
Everybody says family and friends, so here are my non family/friend things:

My tablet, hot sauce, things that allow me to be perceived as my actual gender, my cat (he's my buddy), books, and soap, because not having showers sounds horrific.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
I spend a lot of my time preoccupied with social justice issues and deconstructing gender. I can talk your ears off about either of these things, and if you get me going, I probably will. I also tend to do a lot of self-reflection.

I think all of that makes me sound a bit deeper than I actually am, so rest assured I also spend a lot of time preoccupied with sex and whatever nerdy thing I happened to read that day.
On a typical Friday night I am
I'm usually out with a friend at a bar or watching movies, unless I happen to be utterly exhausted from the week.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I refuse to stick my hand down the disposal when stuff gets stuck down there. I will get tongs. Too many horror movies.
I’m looking for
  • Everybody
  • Ages 24–35
  • Near me
  • Who are single
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating, activity partners
You should message me if
If you like any of the things I have described above and want to get to know someone else who does. If you are cute, very intelligent, talkative and assertive (read: a nerdy-in-a-cool-way feminist or social activist) I will consider these things a bonus. Also if you don't mind trans people, obviously.

I did the casual relationship thing for a while and I am ready to move on. If things just happen to work out that way I'm not opposed, but I'm really looking for something more long term at this point in my life.
