My self-summary
I am very curious and love cheese, wine, big smiles with all your gums showing, and exploring new cultural activities. I'm not religious. So you could believe in a bunch of infighting Gods walking around in their Armani togas...as long as we have great conversations, I'm thrilled.

I love art and cooking and am probably most engaged by these kinds of sensory experiences. At the same time I am pretty driven professionally and seem to like hybrid personality traits in others.

Professionally, I went back to (law) school in 2004 and am currently serving as a civil rights adjudicator (i.e., low level Admin. Judge) with the USDA.

As for personal goals, that is more difficult. I love humor, and being with someone who has an intense free-floating curiosity, but mostly I want someone who prompts me to think about things in a new way.

I am playful, excessively verbal, and curious
What I’m doing with my life
I am a civil rights attorney practicing in DC.
I’m really good at
elementary backstroke, heady dialogue.
The first things people usually notice about me
smile that looks like I slept with a coat hanger in my mouth.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
My antonia, Toni Morrison, Top Chef, Joe Strummer, Gore vidal, cynthia Ozick, cheese, sinead O'connor, arrested development, The Wire, Louise Eldrich...those are some of the mainstays.
The six things I could never do without
cheese, wine, bread, good live music or theater, talk-a-thons with good friends, empathy.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
rhetoric and how words are used to solicit responses. This is always interesting to me.

Empathy--you know, imagining what it is like to be someone other than myself...Not because I want to be someone else but because that is the only way I seem to understand the world (or at least the little corner of it that I inhabit).
On a typical Friday night I am
exploring the emetic joie de vivre of DC... wine with a small group of good friends, or maybe just relaxing on the couch....it really depends.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I really like Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
